Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I are staying in Kissimmee, Florida for 2.5 months from Canada. We visited this dog racetrack for the afternoon and had fun while enjoying a cheap way of entertaining ourselves. Despite doing a lot of long shot bets, we sent twelve dollars on 6 two dollar bets. We made use of the tip sheet provided. It appears to be an old track and has it regulars that attend this venue. It has been at least fifteen years since I have been to a dog race track but there are more modern places than this. The appearance didn't both me as this was the nearest one to us since we drove from Kissimmee, Florida.

Came here for the first time. Had to stop and ask directions to the location after Google Maps got us totally confused.
Parking is easy.
At the club house you seat is directly over the starting line for the dogs.
The service at the clubhouse was a bit lacking. We waited over 30 minutes for a piece of cake. Really? Did you have to bake it?
I got the chicken strips and fries and they were okay. My husband got the club sandwich and thought it was good.
The location itself is a tad older track. My husband was disappointed in the track itself. An older track that needs fixed up….. Yes an older facility that was in need of maintenance.
Betting was simple butwe had no big winnings.
The sweet tea was good….but the service at the clubhouse did lack…..and they were not crowded at all on a Wednesday. So good luck if the place is busy with people.

I have been to a few kennel clubs in Florida, and SOKC is by far the best. It feels like it still has some life in it as opposed to many others. The patrons are a mix of degenerate gamblers spending their paycheck on a losing game and young people visiting for an afternoon of entertainment. SOKC does a good job of keeping things fresh with events, giveaways, a decent club house, and an energetic announcer. I have a good time when I go. That being said, greyhound racing is a dying sport fraught with animal rights controversy. I don't think it's as bad as animal rights people will lead you to believe, but I also don't think this is the best lives for these dogs. The race cards can be confusing if you are not acclimated to the sea of numbers like I am. However, minimum bets are $1, so as long as you don't go overboard, you can't really lose more than $20 in a afternoon or evening card. Quinnela bets are the most profitable for the average bettor (picking the top two dogs of a race in any order). Win, place, and show bets are the most popular though and you can win modest money looking at how the best are distributed. Look at the boards and don't make bets that would win at least double your money. Dog racing is a random sport that more often than not will leave you with a little less money than you walked in with. Just have fun and bet smart.

This is not a brand new state of the art dog track. This place has been around for ages, and that shows. Most of the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and if you don't go at a super busy time, will help you with your bets. If you go on a busy day, like the Kentucky Derby, there will be lines. It will be packed. They will expect you to have an idea of what you are doing, but forgiving if you don't. However, the person behind you might not be. Also, if you do win a bet, it is considered politely to leave a little something for the teller (even if its just the change). Go for a good time and to experience something new.

My husband and I came with my daughter and her boyfriend for lunch and to watch the dogs run. We reserved a table in the clubhouse at a table by the window. The food and drink were good. Service was friendly. Its a fun afternoon out!

We went for the greyhound racing with some bar food thrown in. The service is slow but they get there. It appears they are understaffed in all areas of the business but those that are working are doing their very best. We ordered drinks which were slow to be delivered and given the speed we ordered food immediately. We ordered burgers , all 3 of us. After 40 minutes the girl came and apologised for the delay . We said ok and then within 10 minutes the food arrived. Unfortunately 2 of the burgers were very much undercooked and had to be returned. They were cooked as ordered and were ok. I noticed then a number of tables returning food which was not good.
We still enjoyed our night despite the food issue. Service is an area that must be improved in this business. They could be generating a much larger revenue if the service was improved.

We have been here one time before, and again were impressed and entertained to see the athletes perform. We adopt retired greyhounds and love the breed! The staff was friendly and helpful. The facility is showing its age, but the track is well maintained and manicured. The handlers and staff are professional with the greyhounds, and if you watch you can tell the greyhounds love to run and perform. I hope to be back often and hope somehow these dogs can continue to do what they are born for. Race and retire to be loved.

Overall the track is average. The track itself could definitely use some improvements. The Clubhouse is nice and the food is decent.

I love to gamble and bet on the dogs but it is sad to see what has become of the track. The facility is old and out dated, the inside smells of smoke, and other than the actual dog race there is not much good to speak of when it comes to this location.

Went here on a wet and stormy Friday afternoon. Really enjoyed the dog racing and the food. Food and entry both great value - US$4 admission for two adults to the clubhouse, including a $1.50 racecard. Free for the children. Had a great table by the window to the track. Stayed for ten races, lost US$1.50 overall. Stayed dry.
Staff friendly, service great.

It depends on the distance, but for the average race its approximately 30 seconds. There are about 10 minutes between races.
