Far Out Fishing was established by Captain Chris Mendola in 2007. Captain Chris has over 20 Years if commercial and recreational fishing experience in the Florida Keys and Caribbean .The fleet is made up of 2 very comfortable and well maintained center console boats. The vessels are rigged with the finest fishing and Spearfishing equipment as well as all coast guard approved safety equipment. Captain Cole Harrison is a Key West native and full time guide for Far Out Fishing as well. Either of these professional guides will put you on the fish and you will be in great hands aboard Far Out Fishing Charters!

So glad that we were pointed to Farout Fishing! I spoke with Captain Kyle to book our trip for six people explaining that we wanted to catch fish for a few dinners during our stay. He listened and took us out to the spots to catch enough snapper to supply three meals!
We had one experienced fisherman down-to a novice and all had a great time! Lots of fish caught, too many grouper since it’s not season but they were fun to catch! Captain Kyle was super patient and surprisingly we seemed to always have at least five lines in the water, even with the current.
Booked a full day and had a great time! Highly recommend if you’re in the area and want to catch fish.

Captain Chris Mendola, owner of Far Out Charters, is extremely knowledgable and it is evident that he has been fishing and guiding for a very long time. It was really impressive watching him work so hard to put us on the fish and listening to him passionately share his knowledge of techniques and of the local fishery. His boat and gear were very impressive (Whitewater with twin Mercury outboards and high end Shimano reels with custom Esky rods).
Throughout the day we moved to multiple spots and used a variety of techniques and live baits to catch fish. He literally put us on so many fish that we couldn’t reel them in fast enough, which is a great “problem” to have! He put us on a GIANT school of tunas that were busting on top, which was one of the most incredible things I have ever witnessed in nature.
Overall, I recommend Far Out Charters with the highest regard. They are the most knowledgeable fishing charters I have ever used and I will certainly be using their services again. It was an outstanding and fast paced trip that exceeded our expectations and the results speak for themselves. We will absolutely be back to Key West for another trip with Captain Chris and Far Out Charters!

If you plan to fish in Key West, look no further than Far Out Charters. I'm really glad we were pointed to this charter when we were first booking our trip. My brother in law and I fished with Far Out twice in mid Dec 2020. Both trips were huge successes bringing home fish. On the 2nd day, we got 7 big Wahoo in the boat and could've possibly had more if it hadn't been for a bad storm. Chris and Kyle will put you on the fish and know when to pivot when it's slow.
I can go on and on about how great the fishing was but the greatest attribute about Far Out is their professionalism and class. Our Key West trip/fishing was all planned around saying goodbye to my father who passed away earlier in the year. We wanted to spread his ashes in the ocean after a day of fishing. Chris helped us with the planning and took us out to a beautiful location. As emotional as the event was; it was better than we could have ever hoped for. I commend Chris for showing so much respect and class to my family during it. It's a day we'll always remember. I highly recommend fishing with Far Out Charters.

Two days with capt Chris of fishing, spearfishing and catching lobsters with the ticklers... all good stuff. Went back to Airbnb with plenty of fish and lobster for ceviche/ fried grouper tacos couldn’t have been a better catch/clean/cook experience. He will help out if needed and is a great story teller to fill in some of the time while getting offshore. Great for first time beginners or seasoned anglers alike. We caught and speared mangrove snapper, mutton snapper, black grouper, reef donkeys and of course plenty of lobster. Thanks again Chris !

Captain Kyle is a stud! He not only knew where to find tuna but also how best to fish them when other boats were not having any luck. We also hooked a large sailfish but unfortunately line was cut before we could be him close. Kyle is knowledge with a real desire to make sure his guests have a great experience no matter how effort is involved on his part. We will be back to fish with Kyle!

Chris and Cole took me and three buddies out spearfishing for wahoo and didn’t disappoint. All 4 of us got at least one 40lb+ wahoo each. Amazing experience that we plan on making an annual trip. Far Out Fishing Charters is worth every penny!!!

Have fished w/ Capt. Chris a few times and each time it is unforgettable. I can't wait to get back down there and do it again. Every time we go, we come home with a cooler full of filets and a book full of stories and memories. Capt. Chris truly knows how to get on the fish.

Had a great 2 days with Capt. Kyle. Did a day of reef fishing and a day of lobster snorkeling. Resulted in two excellent dinners at our place. Super fun and laid back. Definitely recommend these guys

I’ve been out with these fellas a couple of times now and have had a blast each time. Captains Cole and Chris are extremely knowledgeable clearly skilled. This past trip, we went out with Cole who in addition to being a fantastic multitasker is incredibly kind and fun. Couldn’t speak any higher of this team.

My family and I recently went to Key West for a mini trip over the weekend to go Lobstering and Mahi Fishing. This charter was great from the moment we stepped on. Captain Cole did an amazing job taking us to all the right spots to find the lobsters. He demonstrated how to catch them, and helped us find them. After the half day of Lobstering, we went offshore to go Mahi fishing. We were not disappointed in the least. We caught a little of everything, but ended up taking home a great haul of Mahi. He even cleaned the lobster and the fish for us. So if someone is on the fence between this and another charter. Pick them, I promise it will be the best decision you make on your trip.

Do you do half day trips and is one price for the trip with up to certain number of people?
Do you do splits? what would be cost for 1 or 2 people on a half day?
Thanks. I’ll be there 2/3-2/17 abd want to know if I need to book more than a couple days in advance.
