Meaningful and Tender

A beautiful and compassionate memorial honoring those who died from the Aids virus. Located by the ocean and tastefully presented. It is a meaningful reminder.

Beautiful

Must visit when in Key West. The Pier itself is so long it is perfect for Sunsets. The beginning of Pier is the Aids Memorial it is beautiful and sentimental and peaceful. We visited here every evening of our trip. Beautiful

Memorial to AIDS victims
Nov 2020 • Couples
A very moving memorial to victims of the AIDS disease. It’s on a beautiful beach with an amazing pier. Beach is dog friendly and there is a wonderful dog park across the street

Fun pier
Feb 2020
We stopped here to explore the pier and the pretty water. Nice pier and you can get splashed if you go out to the end of it. My boys loved it.

Small place you could miss.
Dec 2019
While walking the beachfront of Higgs beach, we came across this place while heading out onto the pier.. A nice memorial,.... Clean and modern memorial spread out on the ground and with a low wall full of names with those lost to Aids.

Was blessed to be back in the Conch Republic on this day. I attended the memorial service at sundown. Very moving. A place to remember friends no longer with us.

Touching but Hard to See
Sep 2019 • Solo
This memorial is at the entrance to the White Street Pier and on the north side of Higgs Beach. It is touching that they wanted to commemorate those lost to AIDS but how it was built/displayed makes it hard to really take it all in.

One needn't be gay to be moved by this memorial
May 2019 • Couples
Encompassing nearly the entirety of the entry to the White Street Pier, the Key West AIDS Memorial uses unique touches to display not only the names of the thousands of men and women Key West has lost over the years to this disease but quotes from a number of philosophers and poets, leaving the viewer moved beyond more speech can convey. The list of names is updated each year, with the names of those lost in the year prior, with the unveiling of this addition taking place at the end of the annual AIDS Walk which takes place early each December and draws hundreds of people wishing to pay their respects and to remember those who have fallen. A sobering, solemn, peaceful, and utterly moving experience for those who wish to move beyond the typical.

Beautiful tribute
Mar 2019 • Family
We were walking from our condo down the beautiful path towards the place we were planning on having dinner at, and came across this at the beginning of White Street Pier. It was so beautiful to look at. There were very pretty lights all around, a couple of benches to sit on, flowers, and huge plaques in the ground in the middle of the decorative cement with names of people who have passed from AIDS. Very tastefully done Key West!
