Just down the road from the Cardrona Hotel is the famous (in New Zealand, anyway) Cardrona Bra Fence, where thousands of brassieres flap merrily in the breeze. It started as a lark during Christmas week in 1998, when four anonymously donated bras appeared on the fence; no way of knowing, but we'd bet alcohol was involved. Traveling from Arrowtown we stoped here. I don't know how much hanging bra and after rain and sun, stinky bra can help to anyone but there was donation box for Breast Cancer Foundation, which can surely help much more. Anyway it was interesting somehow.

It's certainly worth a stop, when you are driving from Queenstown to Wanaka. The colourful display of bra's hanging from a wired fence is not something you see everyday. I don't know how much this actually does for awareness of breast cancer, but it doesn't hurt it. A photo-op it is for sure.
