Visit Arrowtown and Wanaka on a half-day tour from Queenstown that explores local history and one of New Zealand’s most exciting adventure destinations. You’ll have time to stroll Arrowtown’s charming main street, built during the town’s 19th-century gold rush, then enjoy an hour of free time to see Wanaka. Walk the gorgeous lake path with views of the Southern Alps, then return to Queenstown through the Crown Range, winding through towering peaks and high passes.

What a spectacular ride, we climbed to over 700 metres, with views to Mt Cook and Queenstown. The horses were fantastic, sure footed and responsive, and my grandson who is a complete beginner was safe and confident staying with the guide while we had the opportunity to canter numerous times. Our guide Frenchie was great; relaxed, fun and informative and made sure everyone was safe and comfortable with where we were riding. Deb, the owner, runs a great activity and whether you're hanging out to climb on a horse or just want a great way to see some real New Zealand country I would highly recommend this.

This has been my favourite part of my travels around New Zealand. The team were amazing at everything! They were very informative and supportive and fun. And the horses were BEAUTIFUL and so gentle, each of them had their own personality which was nice. We were given the opportunity to ride faster if we wanted and got to experience different types of terrain, whilst learning about the surrounding area and the history. It was authentic and such good value for money! I hope to come back again soon as I had the most wonderful day and would seriously recommend this to anyone visiting new zealand :-)

It is great to go on adventures with companies that have outstanding service. The team at Back Country Saddles made us feel like Patric the family. Savanna the guide was awesome, the scenery was beautiful and the horses were well behaved. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to have a go at horse riding, doesn’t get much better than this.
