Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Debs hosted us for an amazing 2 hour ride around the property. Stunning Otago countryside, whilst actively been enjoyed on horse back!

We thought it was an awesome family activity! The kids had a little experience, but my husband and I were total novices and had a great time... including trotting, and a canter.

The horses were incredible.

Thoroughly recommend Debs and her set up from start to finish

Amazing ride up through the hills, gullies and streams. Thanks to Frenchie for an enjoyable ride and the awesome tour, we had a few laughs along the way. Thanks also to Deb for the six amazing appolosa horses.

What a spectacular ride, we climbed to over 700 metres, with views to Mt Cook and Queenstown. The horses were fantastic, sure footed and responsive, and my grandson who is a complete beginner was safe and confident staying with the guide while we had the opportunity to canter numerous times. Our guide Frenchie was great; relaxed, fun and informative and made sure everyone was safe and comfortable with where we were riding. Deb, the owner, runs a great activity and whether you're hanging out to climb on a horse or just want a great way to see some real New Zealand country I would highly recommend this.

This has been my favourite part of my travels around New Zealand. The team were amazing at everything! They were very informative and supportive and fun. And the horses were BEAUTIFUL and so gentle, each of them had their own personality which was nice. We were given the opportunity to ride faster if we wanted and got to experience different types of terrain, whilst learning about the surrounding area and the history. It was authentic and such good value for money! I hope to come back again soon as I had the most wonderful day and would seriously recommend this to anyone visiting new zealand :-)

It is great to go on adventures with companies that have outstanding service.
The team at Back Country Saddles made us feel like Patric the family. Savanna the guide was awesome, the scenery was beautiful and the horses were well behaved. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to have a go at horse riding, doesn’t get much better than this.

Visited whilst on holiday with my husband - I’m a relatively experienced rider but he is a beginner. Debs recommended a ride with a mixed ability group which was perfect for us - he learnt the risk n trot and even had a little canter too! Absolutely beautiful scenery, well cared for horses and lovely staff. They took a great photo for us at the top too. Icing on the cake - very reasonably priced for a good two hour trek as well! Thanks!

Deb and the girls are really passionate about horses. You can tell straight up by the excellent health the horses are in. The temperaments of the horses were easy going and well behaved. My 7 year old girl was on a large horse but was not frightened at all. She absolutely loved this experience and wants to do it again. Unfortunately there’s probably no other place I would go as this was the BEST Place to HORSE RIDE. Up in the old country of NEW ZEALAND you feel like you’ve stepped back in time and only you and the horse exists. A decent 2 hr trek is perfect time to take in the stunning backdrop of mountains stretching as far as the eye can see. Nothing is more beautiful and relaxed. Thank you Deb and every success to you!
