So you have to buy an admission ticket. And then there are a couple of different types of tours which are no additional cost (a tour is the only way you can get into the house). This place is amazing, a wide and varied collection...More

A unique opportunity to see a home museum dedicated purely to American history. A gorgeous historic home and expansive gardens; the home has been expanded to accommodate the DuPont family collection of American History including parts of historic homes from all of the original 13...More

I was shocked and appalled to witness our guide, Kelly, treat my companion with rude, elitist and indeed racist remarks during the 2 PM introductory tour on Oct 27th, 2018. Winterthur seemed like a beautiful place, and we were looking forward to seeing it. Instead,...More

My boyfriend and I visited Winterthur on a weekend getaway to Elkton. The museum proved to be a great rainy day activity, and our tour guide was full of knowledge and historical tidbits relating to the house and the various collections within. I do wish...More

We arrived expecting to just see a mansion, but the gardens are a must see. Not formal in the way that Longwood or Nemours are, the setting is much more informal and bucolic. Large grounds with different plantings, take the shuttle tour from the visitors...More

For our 45 wedding anniversary celebration day, my husband and I both wanted to spend it at Winterthur. He loves Period Furniture and I love interior design. We were both blown away! We started with the tram ride through the gardens, being informed and entertained...More

We have been to Winterthur several times in different seasons. Not many flowers blooming this time, but it is fun to walk around the grounds and find all of the architectural “follies” spread around the property. The museum is always nice, with at least one...More

My mother and I visited Winterthur yesterday. I’ve done many, many house tours over the years and this was one of the very best. The landscaping is extraordinary and the interiors are gorgeous. Our visit was made especially meaningful by the two docents we were...More

We went to the Gardens to see the Folly Exhibits. There is a large parking area adjacent with a small walk to the main office. We decided to take the Tram ride to see most of them (note: Tram dose not go by all of...More

A cab ride from Wilmington's Amtrak station should take 15-20 minutes. It can drop you off at the Visitors' Center. (The cafe there is quite good.) There is a shuttle that takes you to the mansion.
