This is a great tour even if you aren’t a fan or even haven’t seen the movie. The ride to the location is fascinating, just like Hobbiton in itself is. Great to hear the background and the stories in making the movies.
we loved our visit to Hobbiton, it was truly magical. The site is amazing and well kept, the guides were informative and fun. We had the feast and it was brilliant. If you are a fan of the movies or books its a definite
Yes, of course it's a tourist trap. Yes, there are hundreds of others there. Yes, it's a lot of money.

Walking through the set with our knowledgeable docent was an excellent experience. The tour starts with a bus ride that shows an intro video. I had watched the movie "Fellowship of the Ring" on the flight from LA and I was so ready to see...More

I would venture to say no since most of the tour is up on the little pathways on the hills and are not wide enough for one without ruining the set design. There are stone steps you have to climb to visit the Hobbit holes.
You take a coach bus from the gift shop/cafe to Hobbiton! We went in late August and our group was 15-20 people. I'm sure that the bus could have held more people, it definitely was not 'tourist season' when we went. I... More
You take a coach bus from the gift shop/cafe to Hobbiton! We went in late August and our group was 15-20 people. I'm sure that the bus could have held more people, it definitely was not 'tourist season' when we went. I believe tours depart every 30 min, so you don't feel the pressure of another group right on your heels!
