Overview
More
The Yampa River Core Trail is a seven mile, non-motorized multi-use trail that follows the meandering Yampa River from Dougherty Road through downtown Steamboat Springs to Bear River Park. Groves of cottonwood trees, excellent fishing, scenic overlook benches, and lovely picnic spots make this trail a great place for a leisurely stroll or a commuter route through town. Additionally, there are many parks and playgrounds and more miles of trail that can be accessed off of the Core Trail.

Lovely flat (mostly, just a couple small inclines) concrete path close to the river that goes thru town. Good access to the free bus along the route.

Great trail for jogging- nicely mapped and quite lovely as it tracks along the river. Everyone seems so friendly- and it has never been so crowded as to be unpleasant. There is enough up and down to keep you focused on good running and breathing...More

Every year we rent bikes and enjoy a couple hours tooling up and down the Yampa with a stop for lunch (we pack it) at a lovely spot just above the Mt. Werner street area. If you’re lucky, you may even see a fox cross...More

This is a great trail to bike, walk, and run. Several good spots to rent bikes- Ski Haus, Ski and Bike Kare. Dogs are allowed on leashes. Beautiful views as you go along the trail.

Yes. Much of it is cleared. I wore YakTrax when I ran it, though.

We rented from Ski Haus. Easy access to the trail and not far from the Botanical Gardens. Be sure to use the coupon found in the Steamboat Guide. Available for free in many stores, hotels and fast food places.
