Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Colorow Trail is a great trail for walking or biking. There are some small stretches that are a little steep, otherwise it's a very easy trail. Great for walking dogs.

This is a fairly short hike and you can start at either end and make a loop back to the subdivision. Since we were enervated by the daytime heat we started our walk after dinner. You would want to make sure you are early enough to avoid total darkness (or bring a light), because there are stretches that are a bit rocky and narrow with switch backs and steep grades. If you are a sea level person, it may take you a bit longer to huff and puff up trail.
But the views are worth it - you get a 360* panorama of the surrounding area. And you may be surprised, as I was, just how extensive the housing development is in this little valley. We were also surprised by the number of wildflowers on the trail...though I'm sure some consider them "weeds".

This is my go too hike and I do it 2 or 3 times a week. The views are great and it is a good work out.

Beautiful hike - it was just a very dry time of year in July - easy to find and there are a lot of route options. It can be as long or short as you like.

We started the Colorow Trail at the east entry and made the complete loop to exit on the west. The trail was a bit strenuous at times with our 5-year old twins, but we made it! The views overlooking the valley are extraordinary and the varying landscapes that the trail winds through are beautiful.
One word of caution: at some of the higher elevations, the trail can be very muddy. Our trip through found the mud frozen.

I hiked this trail in the morning before fishing. There were lots of juniper trees and some scrub oak. Nice view of New Castle at the top. The trail winds through a neighborhood at the beginning.

Short little hike that offers amazing views overlooking New Castle and beyond. You can do this hike from anywhere in town, and end you hike with a beer and a burger at one of the restaurants downtown.

Although it is an easy hike, it delivers exceptional views and a moderate elevation gain. While hiking the first few switchbacks don't forget to take a look across the valley to the south and west and the ridges of the Grand Hogback. Enjoy gazing above the rooftops of Castle Valley Ranch to the expansive western lands in the distance. Very beautiful vistas to be enjoyed!

I love this trail it is right in New Castle and it has a lot to offer scenic and a great elevation change for a thorough workout. it might be easiest to access it from Vix Ranch Park, N Wild Horse Dr, New Castle, CO 81647 especially if you want to hike it.
Otherwise you could start from downtown and MTB up the Jolly Trail over to Vix park for extra mileage.
