Pleasantly surprised to see this museum, i highly recommend this to anyone visiting the bay area, very eclectic theme, not crowded, parking underground with a healthy lunch available too, great for solo traveller or family of kids all ages

I love the exhibits here and the open garden at the Oakland Museum. I really enjoyed the Hip Hop Respect exhibit because it spoke to a huge piece of what Oakland is about from an artistic lens. Really great activities there for families. Great place!

The Lake Merritt BART station is only a couple blocks from the Oakland Museum. When you exit the BART station head towards the hills and you are walking in the right direction.
