Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Shaws Cove is a little tucked away public beach in Laguna Beach, and it was my favorite beach in town - mostly because it seems to be a pretty well kept secret (maybe I shouldn't be spilling the beans!)

Park on a residential street, and head down a few sets of stairs (not wheel chair accessible...it was barely stroller accessible), the cove set between two points. It was quiet, with only 6 or 7 people there, ourselves included. We were able to play in the waves and build sandcastles, and throw a football around, without dozens of people running around us, or dogs freaking my daughter out.

Toward the North end are lots of rocks, with lots of tide pools teeming with life! We had SO MUCH FUN exploring them, lots of urchins, starfish, etc.... just remember to keep your flipflops on so you don't cut up your feet!

We ended up going back, because it seemed so out of the way - there are some big beach houses on the bluffs above the beach, and it's so beautiful. I'd suggest this beach for families with kids, definitely.

This smaller cove is my favorite. There are rocks on both sides for exploring tide pools and taking walks (when the tide is lower) to the other beaches.

I visited Shaw's Cove whilst on holiday in California and after purchasing a snorkel and mask we decided to give it a go whilst at Shaw's Cove.

All I can say is WOW what beautiful and amazing fish we saw. Was slightly jealous of the divers that were also at the cove as they could get right down next to the corals etc but still an amazing experience.

We also visited Little Corona Beach about a 5 min drive away and again saw some amazing fish!

This is a nice little beach where you feel like you're on your own little tropical island. There are lots of places to explore on the rocks - we saw several different types of crabs and little tide pools all over. I love the beach, but there are two issues that would cause me to seek a different place when planning a beach day: scarce parking and no restroom facilities.

This is a hidden little gem with tide pools and a sandy beach. A walk down lots of steps to get there but so worth it. No shell collecting here but lots of sea life to enjoy and take photos of. Will absolutely visit here again.

My friends and I went to shows cove early morning to take pictures and enjoy the warm California sun. The beach was empty except for two people heading out the paddle board. Check out the tide pools when you are there. You can see some awesome sea creatures and fish if you are lucky.

don't go on weekends, its so busy you can barely find a spot for your stuff. if you like a little seclusion, weekday mornings is the perfect time to hit this beach. great place to snorkel.

Beautiful beach for relaxing, tide pools, and snorkeling and a great view of Laguna. Also good for launching stand up paddle boards, just be aware that there are about 30 or so stairs that you have to navigate down. Parking is in the neighborhood above (don't park in front of anyone's driveway) or the Laguna Trolley makes a stop there.

I have snorkeled here (Shaw's and diver's coves) for quite some time now. Always a great little treasure chest. of sea life. It's nestled down some stairs between some homes and condo/apartments. Parking is fairly ample, but it can be a bear finding a spot on weekends. Best to visit at earlier morning hours to mid afternoon for sea life. The later afternoon and early evenings offer better waves if you want to bodyboard or bodysurf. Very quiet too, no volume of traffic nearby, so it makes a nice place to plant yourself for a day.
