I live 45 km away. from Torreglia it was only last week, organizing myself for a walk in the Euganean Hills, that I discovered this little artistic and architectural jewel. Yesterday I visited it and it was truly worth it: structure, context, furniture, frescoes, make it a site that the FAI has made into something unforgettable.
Very nice!

I had been recommended this Villa by a friend and I must say that it was a pleasant discovery .. building well maintained and in an exceptional natural setting, the view all around the Euganean hills is spectacular. ALESSIA, a Guide of Fai young but very prepared, I always choose guided tours and I did not always feel good but this was really excellent! Brava Alessia, you made me immerse myself in the history of this dwelling!

…I visited this Villa dei Vescovi!!…in Luvigliano!!…fraction of Torreglia!!…with a FAI trip!!…in fact this Venetian Villa!!…refined Villa from the early sixteenth century!!…has been declared a national monument and is owned by the FAI!!…it was built on this hill…among the Euganean Hills!!…at the behest of Bishop Jacopo Zeno!!…who even had the small medieval church dedicated to San Martino moved!!…to build this building! !...the Villa was built on a terrace right at the top of the hill!!...and was used as a place of rest and living!!...inside it features many important decorations!!...many halls dedicated to the various activities of the bishops! !...in addition to the interior...I really liked the loggia!!...where the guests took a regenerating walk!!...mythical!!...but from here you can also admire a wonderful landscape!!...of the plain...towards Montegrotto Terme and Padua!!…even the loggias are artistically frescoed!!…and you can find sofas and armchairs available to guests!!…the main aim of the bishops when building the Villa was to create a harmonious fusion between nature…l 'art!!…and architecture!!…they definitely succeeded!!…and that's what I felt!!…visiting this fantastic Villa dei Vescovi!!…unique and wonderful location!!…absolutely worth seeing!! …💯💯🔝‼️

Before returning to Romagna after a weekend in Abano we took advantage of the proximity. Given that I am associated with the FAI. Very well-kept structure, which can easily be visited independently. Interesting presentation video although too full of the word sustainability. If necessary, a cafeteria and restaurant are available. It's worth a couple of hours of our time.

The Villa is owned by the Italian equivalent of the UK's National Trust. However there are two two bedroom flats in the roof space which are rented out by the UK's Landmark Trust. We had a glorious three days and used them as a base for local exploration. The Villa itself is a fascinating place to visit, and is especially wonderful in the evenings, with open use of the western and eastern loggias, and garden/vineyard.

There is a good but quite expensive cafe on site, but plenty of dining options all around the area. About a one hour drive from Venice airport.

Very entertaining wine tasting at the on site wine shop.

We just returned from 4 nights in this wonderful Landmark Trust property. Yes, there are lots of stairs but they worked off all the food, don't know if the oven worked as never tried it...far too many choices of places to eat to worry about it. Loved the atmosphere and architecture in Padova, easy drive to Venice and a great time of year to visit, glorious views and the sun shone. Highly recommend it. Btw...you get to visit the Villa for free as a resident and be advised the venue is used for weddings and functions which I imagine could be noisy.

This villa is managed by FAI which is the Italian version of the National Trust, and UK members get in free. Parking is limited near the villa so you are directed to a car park next to the cemetery from which it is a short walk up hill to the villa. The villa itself is delightful and very much worth a visit. You can get a recorded guided tour in most languages which takes you though the history and design of the building and its owners. The villa has been knocked about a bit inside but it still retains its classical design, unusually, combined with a lived in feel. In fact you can live there for a short time as there are two apartments on the top floor that can be booked through the Landmark Trust website. On the two large loggias visitors are encourage to sit on the comfortable seating and contemplate the unspoilt views which was the reason the Bishops of Padua choose this unique location.
This is a beautiful building, well presented and definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
On the practical side there is a small café which serves home made cakes and liquid refreshments, well kept toilets and a gift shop. For a more substantial meal there is a bar / café between the car park and the villa.

We visited on the first Sunday in April, and they were holding the garden market. It was very lively in the courtyard and enjoyable to watch the Italians enjoy the start of spring. A gelateria van was parked in the courtyard as well and many partook of it.
The villa itself is smaller than I expected it to be, but it is still very nice. I have visited many villas here in the Veneto, and this is one of the few that did a very good job furnishing the place anew. I really enjoyed seeing a furnished bathroom complete with tub, bidet and throne toilet; something I have never seen in a visit-able villa yet! FAI did a lovely job with this.
The frescoes in the villa itself are maybe not the most amazing; one salon stood out to me in which there was lovely portraiture. Other than that, I have to say I have seen more amazing work in other villas as far as the frescoes are concerned. But this is not to say that they were not lovely as well!
The whole staff I encountered was very helpful and polite; I accidentally walked in the villa without showing a ticket (oops!) but the clerk was very polite despite this.
All in all, well worth a visit if you love the overall atmosphere of a villa. If you visit and enjoy the architecture and frescoes in this villa, I encourage you to also visiting some other, later Palladian villas. This villa is merely a taste of what the Veneto has to offer, albeit a lovely taste.

This is a beautiful Renaissance Villa set in the Euganean Hills of The Veneto. It was built between 1535 and 1542 and was the summer residence of the Bishop of Padua.

The Villa's design was entrusted to Veronese painter and architect Giovanni Maria Falconetto and the project supervised by Alvise Cornaro from the Curia in Venice.

The frescoes, some quite erotic for a Bishop, decorate many of the walls in the villa were painted by Flemish artist Lambert Sustris who admired the work of Raphael.

The villa is surrounded by vineyards and fruit trees fields which are well organised and designed. Idyllic setting!!

We really enjoyed the visit but we felt that the entry fee of Euros 8.50 was expensive in comparison to other Renaissance attractions we have visited.

Get to the villa early and you can park right in front of the entrance, otherwise there is quite a walk from the car park. Naturally check opening times before making the trip.

Stayed over Easter in one of the 2 Landmark Trust flats and had a great time. Be warned - there are about 80 steps from the car park up to the flat - but well worth it to stay in such a wonderful place. The flat was beautifully equipped wioth 2 large en-suite bedrooms, perfect for 4 people, comfortable seating and dining areas, and all the cooking equipment for a short or long stay. The views from the flat are lovely and you are also allowed free access to the villa during opening hours and to the grounds at all times. You can also sit out on either of 2 terraces with comfortable seating and stunning views. The villa itself is beautiful with wonderful rooms and lovely frescoes on the walls. It is set high on a hill among vines which give great views down over the vineyards, of the surrounding hills, and equally good views up of the villa itself perched above the vines. Lots of places to see in the neighbourhood and only 20 minutes from Padua which is superb - don't miss it. You also are given a FAI card which gives you free entry to some villas and reduced entry to other for a year. We cannot recommend too highly and will defintiely be back as we only had time to visit a few of the local sights and are thirsting for more!!
