Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Using one of the brochures that we picked up at the Visitors Center, we rented a pair of two-person kayaks for an hour and paddled around Big Bear Lake. It was a lot of fun! While my wife and I had kayaked before up at Lake Tahoe, this was our boys first time with the sport. My elder son went with my wife and I took my younger with me. Some notes on this establishment.
1. Make reservations for when they open (9:00 AM). I'm glad we did as they got really busy around 10:30 or so and it appeared that most of their equipment was rented out by then.
2. The other reason to go when they open is that it gets pretty windy on the lake as the day goes on, making maneuvering your kayak considerably more difficult. We arrived at 9:00 and were on the lake about 9:15 or so. By 10:00 AM I was having difficulty in maneuvering our kayak due to the wind.
3. Also, as the day wears on, you'll find more and more pleasure craft on the water and the wakes from all the boats make your kayak a bit of an "e-ticket" ride. I have to admit it was pretty funny watching my wife yell as her kayak bobbed up and down.
4. Use the porta-potty by the checking office BEFORE you hit the water. Once out there, there is a floating restroom but it is a challenge getting out of your kayak unassisted onto a raised floating platform, not to mention getting back in.
5. If you go during summer, use sunscreen and bring sunglasses. It's bright out on the lake.
6. Watch for the office as you drive down the side street. As shown in the pictures, it's a very small office and the sign will sneak up on you. Additionally, the office fronts an RV park so it's not immediately obvious that this is the rental location as you'll see a larger general store that supports the RV Park.
Pricing, including the discount coupon for four people using two, two-seat kayaks worked out to $54 for an hour. An hour was about all my damaged shoulders could take! This was a fun touristy-thing to do and my boys had a good time. They want to go back and go kayaking again.

We purchased a Groupon for a 4 hour bike rental for four people. It was so fun, only problem... I haven't been on a bike in years and it was quite the workout. The bikes were great and the bike trails were well marked and maintained. Now to go home and start working on my cardio 😂.

We rented bikes from this place that we got reference of at the visitor center. The kids had so much fun the trail was easy access from here and the rental check in was fast and easy. The young men was good with directions and answered a few questions.

Rented 2 bikes one day and rode the Alpine Pedal Path - wonderful experience with great bikes. Rented 2 tandem kayaks and spent an hour on the lake - beautiful! Paddles and Pedals were wonderful both times - attentive and helpful. I would suggest reserving on weekends to ensure you have an opportunity to explore the north side of Big Bear Lake where you can escape the crowds. They offer 10% off by using a coupon from Visitor center or by putting in 10% off in the coupon code online.
Looking forward to renting again soon!

Our family had a great time using these kayaks!! We rented one triple for myself and two daughters (ages 11 and 13) and one tandem for my husband and son (age 8). Great kayaks, paddles and life jackets! Great memories! Thanks!

Came here on a weekend with my gf and her young son. We rented a kayak on Saturday and bikes on Sunday. The workers there were super pleasant and the rental process incredibly easy. Paddling and peddling around Big Bear is a must do attraction and this is the place to rent the equipment from!!

We arrived late in the afternoon and were told all bikes needed to be returned by 5 pm, which seems early and limiting on summer days. We did rent for an hour and followed the lake trail as best we could, which started on land a bit. There were bikes for both men and women. No childrens sizes and the tandem bike was too large for our guests, so they chose to hike. The riding was very nice for the rest of us. The location of the rental facility is very convenient. We did feel some pressure to get back in time.
