Traveling to Santillana del Mar is very much like stepping back in time. The plaza was bustling and full of life, and there were many families and children everywhere.

A stunning building basking in sunlight Many visitors came & went but the little lizards living between the stones remained un-fazed

Wandering through the village, we naturally came across this big square. The buildings around it are begging to be photographed so we duly obliged!

Cars are a rare sight whn strolling the narrow streets of Santillana del Mar. They are generally hidden from view in the old village except for deliveries.

It is really amazing to see a plaza where each building has a special story going back to medieval times

Santillna del Mar is a charming little medieval town which everyone must visit. The only problem is that it is full of tourists during the summer months. I suggest a visit in October or November.

Open until 7.00 pm and cost only 3 euros. The inside contained architecture of the middle ages, it seems that you're in another era.

Santillana del Mar (is not beside the sea) but it is so worth a visit. The entire town is composed of old beautiful buildings with lots of restaurants in the cobblelocked streets. We arrived on a Monday in late September but by 8.30 most restaurants...More
