Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely walk from the main road to Medieval Monastery. No tours due to Covad-19. However there was some information present at the Monastery itself. Well worth a visit

I highly recommend this walking tour. Very interesting and not your normal tourist activity. Trevor is very knowledgeable and entertaining. Don't miss this if you're in east Limerick.

My group of seniors from Northern Ireland greatly enjoyed a 'Medieval Walking Tour' of KIlmallock with Trevor McCarthy, an archaeologist and historian. He tailored it to our needs, his information was succinct and extremely interesting delivered with real passion. What a gem of a place and he helps you relive its history. Everyone should visit Kilmallock...as they say in the Michelin Guides 'vaut le detour' - it's well worth the detour!!

Trevor was a fantastic guide!! He is an actual historian and archeologist, so he was able to give us so many interesting back stories. We saw another tour group being led around by a lady. All I can say is, our tour was MUCH better than theirs!

Trevor is an incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and passionate tour guide. He has a friendly word for everyone and was great with the kids. It was a joy to listen to his tour and his talent for painting a picture of the time he is speaking about. The town is very lucky to have a historian and archeologist who loves his work so much. Thank you so much for such a great tour and I can't recommend it highly enough.

We stopped in Kilmallock to visit a family history site nearby, not realizing what a wonderful hidden gem this city is. Thank goodness we connected with Trevor McCarthy and spent the morning touring the medieval walled city and the incredible treasures it holds. The 15th century Dominican Priory and stunning Collegiate Church, the ancient Kings Castle and the magnificent neo-Gothic church of SS. Peter and Paul, are just some of the wonders in this history-rich city.

Trevor is a Kilmallock treasure himself and his tour was beyond fantastic! His archaeological background, his extensive knowledge and his passion for his hometown made it one of the most informative and enjoyable tours we’ve experienced. It was especially interesting to learn about the challenges residents face in balancing historic preservation with the day to day needs of the community – and to see how they’ve risen to those challenges.

Trevor went above and beyond and even helped us find the graves of some ancestors in the nearby Tankardstown cemetery! This unplanned stop ended up being one of the highlights of our trip to Ireland. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Myself and another visitor to the Kilmallock area took a wonderful tour with Trevor yesterday evening. His knowledge and interest in the Kilmallock area is second to none and his archaeological and historical background is a huge advantage. He was able to share knowledge about the area from medieval times through the famine, civil war and present day. I would highly recommend anyone who is interested in Kilmallock or has a connection with the area to take part in this activity. Unfortunately I was so engrossed with his talk that I didn’t take many photos!

Our tour guide Trevor McCarthy was excellent, His wealth of knowledge on local history is astonishing. Kilmallock is a beautiful town and more needs to be done to promote its wonderful history.
