Nice visit

The friendliness of the men and women who were working at the exhibits made the visit very enjoyable. They took time to speak with all who came and explained their craft with a smile.

Great Experience for ALL Ages
Aug 2021 • Friends
Awesome experience!!! Great place for families with young children to learn about yesteryear and the arts. We like supporting local artists instead of buying junk made in China. There is an admission fee, but a family package is also available. No senior pricing. The Porch Pickers were wonderful!!! The 1 hour show seemed like 30 mi. We also ate at the restaurant and the food was great, nice size portions and reasonably priced. We will return and would recommend to family & friends. Our out of state guests also enjoyed😁

One of a kind

This is a pretty neat little place. We aren’t much into shopping at places like this, but we still had a bunch of fun touring the little shops. I liked watching the blacksmith and the live music. I was happy to see the youth involved in playing bluegrass music. The zip lining course next door was cool also. The guy that drives the shuttle is a character also.

Interesting and historic
Jul 2021
The Center wasn't very busy with visitors which allowed us to talk at length with most of those in the various buildings. All were glad to explain their particular craft. An outdoor pavilion had a folk music group which played mostly old Blue Grass and Gospel music. The performers explained the history of the songs with interesting tidbits. WE enjoyed our visit.

Not the best to see demonstrations.
Jun 2021
I paid to go shopping. Not many demonstrations were going on. Mostly stores to buy items. There is not enough to keep children interested. If you want a great experience I would go back to Solver Dollar City before coming here.

Best kept secret.
This is such a great place; Educational and fun. Enjoyable for all ages. Give yourself enough time to visit with the artisans. They love to talk about their craft. You have an opportunity to learn a lot.

Great place to visit
Apr 2021
First off they have the BEST restaurant in the area for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have renovated cabins that rival any Hampton Inn or Fairfield. The village is historical with crafts of all kinds and an authentic log cabin. A lady who grew up in the cabin was talking about it on our last trip. They have zip lines and hold blue grass concerts.

Nice array of folk craft demonstrations
Oct 2020 • Couples
We visited during Covid precautions so the park does not have some of the music and food offerings they usually have. However, having said that, the folk artists were there, shops were open and it was a nice overall visit. The artists there are all willing to show you as much of their craft as you would like to see and answer any questions. Goods are for sale but there is no pressure to buy. If you like folk crafts, this is a great stop.

Qualify craftmaking at Crafts Village
Oct 2020 • Couples
This place is SO under-promoted. Looks like the State Park could at least afford to put a few billboards up!
Locals have small individual buildings on 2 levels where they promote their handmade crafts, making them while you watch. They are all very friendly and eager to share their craft skills as well as knowledge of the area. Everything is top quality. Excellent workmanship.
I particularly enjoyed the old timey Print Shop where they still print note cards, Christmas cards, wall hangings, & just about anything that can be written on using an old type set machine. I particularly love their note cards and have bought some both times we’ve been here.
The Copper Shop is fascinating. They paint copper jewelry and wall hangings using a torch. Takes a very steady hand! The results are beautiful and very colorful. Last time we were there, I bought a hummingbird which still adorns my kitchen wall.
There is also a wire jewelry shop that has lots of pretties.
The Quilt Shop had a child’s quilt with an animal who’s ears are actually 3D (floppy) so the child can handle them. This would have been a “must buy” if I knew anyone expecting a baby.
The Stained Glass shop had so many pretties, and takes special orders. Give the owner a picture of what you want and she’ll turn it into a stained glass masterpiece. I’m working on ideas for a bathroom wall hanging.
My husband enjoyed the Knife Shop and the Leather Shop. The owners were very knowledgeable and friendly.
There are many more shops, each specializing in their own craft. You’ll miss a fun and informative experience if you don’t go to the Crafts Village. Plan to spend 3-4 hours. If you buy your ticket 2 hours or less before they close, there is no fee to go back for the entire next day. And the best selling point is EVERYTHING IS MADE LOCALLY (i.e. in the good old USA!)
