Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very disturbing to see a child, with a terrible cold, in the chocolate atelier, coughing all over, without being told to cover her mouth.
On top of that....the prices, really??!!

Honestly the entire tour was amazing. Josh was so entertaining, enthusiastic and friendly. It was also incredibly educational. We’ve visited from Australia as a family with our 4 year old and there was something for all of us! The entry fee easily covers the free chocolate you get to make yourself on the tour! HIGHLY RECOMMEND this to everyone. It’s been one of my highlights travelling to York, the UK and Europe!!

The exterior is quaint and inviting with the smell of chocolate enticing you off the street. You will not be disappointed, there is a feast of chocolate inside and even if you don’t have a sweet tooth you will be coming back for a fix. They can gift wrap the delicate chocolates making this a special gift for any occasion. You can have a hot chocolate while you cast your eyes over the tiny treats. There is also an assortment of teas for sale on site.

No where near as good a selection as Bohemian in Wellington and yikes the price is over the top. To make things worse our hot chocolates were cold.

Sorry to hear your hot chocolates were cold, if you are able to come back please let us know and we will give you new ones one the house of course. Like our competitor there are different chocolate options for the hot Chocolate, you may prefer the extra bitter version, or a blend.

I love chocolate especially flavoured ones so I was very excited to get a box for my birthday. Unfortunately, they don't taste as good as they look. They are overly sweet and the white ones are far too greasy. Shame as I had high hopes for them. Half way through a box of 16. May actually just pop them on the shelf as decoration rather than eat the rest.

Sorry for a late response and sorry to hear you did not enjoy the Chocolates as much as we would have hoped. Many of our recipes are traditional Belgium and French recipes; using NZ ingredients where possible and absolutely no artificial additives or oils. However due to the New Zealand Pallet we have reduced the number of bitter/darker chocolates in our range as we have found that the sweeter ones are far more popular in both initial and repeat purchases. We do have darker chocolates such as our 72% Truffle, Burnt Caramel and Dark Raspberry which I think you would enjoy a lot more than the white and sweet dark Chocolates. We also have our Roasted Almonds which are double caramelised, layered in 6 layers of dark chocolate and dusted with French cocoa which I am sure you would love. If you do pop back in, please mention your post and I will give you one on the house! Kind Regards Brett Nicholls
