Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I asked in rather short note if I can do a tour with fokus on night walks. Nila responded in 15min and recommend a special trip for me in Kutai national park. Nila and my guide Rizki are fluent English, super nice so all organisational aspects were very easy.
The trip was perfect. I stayed in the rangers house in the park, so it was all very simple but everything was fine and clean, great fresh local food and amazing nature from Orang Utan during daytime to Tarantula at night.

We asked Nila for a tour just two days in advance and it still was amazing and we got to see everything we asked for. The organization and the tours were perfect.
We asked to see the mangroves and the jungle. For the mangroves we went to the mangroves center at Balikpapan and did a boat tour, we even saw some proboscis monkeys. Afterwards we went to the Kutai Nationalpark and stayed at the ranger station for two nights. There we did four jungle treks with one of the rangers. All four were amazing, the late afternoon into night time trekking was really special. Everyone at the camp was really helpful and nice, the food was good too.
We didn't asked for it, but Nila gave us a trip through Balikpapan too, showing us the markets and the harbour and afterwards we went to the jungle close to Balikpapan for a short track there too.
Overall we had a great time and Nila was there to help with everything. The guides and rangers were very knowledgeable and we saw and learned so much.
The price was, compared to other providers reasonable and since they work with local communities which take care of the mangroves and the jungle, the money is well invested.

Nila arranged an amazing itinerary for our day. She was extremely knowledgeable, a wonderful guide with excellent English and a fabulous source of information. We had a truly memorable experience at Samboja lodge, touring through Balikpapan and Margomulyo Mangrove forest. We would be very happy to arrange further travels with Nila in the future and would recommend her highly to anyone wishing to do any touring around Kalimantan.

We’ve had 5 amazing days around Balikpapan and on Mahakam river, arranged by Nila and guided by enthousiastic guide AJ.
We were supposed to go to Kutai NP for 2 days first, but because the ranger station was suddenly unavailable for tourists, Nila arranged several tours in the area north of Balikpapan. We visited a beautiful longhouse in Pampang village, had an amazing boat trip on Black river, spent the night in the beautiful Samboja Lodge, visited Orang Utan and Sunbear sanctuaries, walked in the Wain river protection forest and made another beautiful boat trip at the mangrove centre. After these 2 days we went on a 3 days/2 nights river cruise with a lovely houseboat on Mahakam river. So much to see as the houseboat takes you upstream. Delicious meals were cooked and served along the way. The tour in a motorised canoe from the colourful village Muara Muntai to Ohong creek and over lake Jempang was a really nice experience and the longhouse in Mancong was beautiful. On our last day in Kalimantan, Nila took us to a local market and let us taste all kinds of fruit and showed us many other ingredients of the delicious dishes we tasted during our holiday. Thanks Nila for all your effort and for the wonderful 5 last days of our holiday in Kalimantan.

I contacted Kalimantan Tour Guide (KTG) with a travel request:
Could you please organise a tour up the Sungai Mahakam (River) as far as possible for a period of less than one week?
Nila Warti (KTG) came back very quickly with a suggested itinerary in a very professional manner.
My tour guide AJ (Awang Jumri) was fantastic! Excellent english and a true ambassador for his region and country.
The tour visited a number of villages including Maura Muntai, Tanjung Isuy and Ujoh.
I had many, many memorable experiences during my six day tour and I was impressed with how KTG also utilised local village guides to further extend my knowledge of the local area, foods, customs. A special call out to Randy (Renddiy) who looked after us at Ujoh.
I thoroughly recommend you contact Kalimantan Tour Guide before considering all travel within Borneo. Excellent, professional outfit with great guides.

We landed from London-Jakarta- Balikpapan and had nothing planned. I wish I had found Nila even before I booked the hotel. Nila speaks good English and knows Kalimantan well.. We would have done things differently like doing a 4/5 day expedition to lakes and whale sharks and jelly fish and deep rainforest. She can do this. As it was, Nila made hasty plans for us to see Orang-utans, Sun Bears Forest walks and river cruises. I saw crocodiles, proboscis monkeys, the orang-utans conservation centre, tarantulas, leopard paw prints in the jungle area. Nila was very punctual, extremely polite and helpful and I really don’t think our holiday would have been enjoyable without her. We are lucky to have come across her details on TripAdvisor. Ila keep up the good work and best wishes to your family. Anyone coming to Kalimantan needs Nila but plan ahead!!! So Nila can really make it worth while.
Oh, you must stay at Samboja Lodge with the top floor bedrooms. It overlooks the forest canopy and I understand a baby orangutan got in one day and demolished a feather pillow. Nobody knew until feathers started drifting down. Next we come I will want to book there. So utterly peaceful

Hi! I am wondering about traveling to Kalimantan to learn about palm oil production. I am an economics student studying the effect on local economies. Would you be able to arrange something like that? If so, what are your rates?

Plan to spend 5 to 6 days in Balikpapan. Interest in photography and eco tour but age is a barrier to trekking. Any day tours with nice scenery and minimum trekking ?

We did the one day tour and according to my phone we did a total of 10km gentle walking during our 12 hr day out. We did the orangutan sanctuary, jungle trek and the mangrove forest in one day. You do not need to be fit to do this but there was uneven ground.
