Adventure experience starting from the drive there. Definately take a jacket plus a large hanky or scarf for ash/sulphur smell protection if windy. Also a torch for the trip back to the vehicles in the dark.

The only reason that we visited Tanna was to see Mount Yasur erupting! Exceeded expectations. Really glad that we visited.

How do you review the force of mother nature? Mt Yasur is an experience that neither I, or anyone in my family will ever forget. Three generations make the remarkably simple trek, (ages 70 to 6), from the carpark, (cars driven by experts in ways...More

Amazing to see the power of nature close up. Quite a trek over bumpy roads. Amazing to get right up to the edge of the creator of an active volcano. Some big eruptions had me worried as molten lava was flung in our direction but...More

we had a very exciting evening tour up Mt Yasur tho many would say it was dangerous, standing on quite narrow ledge and the people who went the night after us had to be rushed off the mountain because the lava was getting too close....More

We’ve just climbed Yasur Volcano, Tanna Is, Vanuatu. The continuously spewing spectacle is a must-see – particularly after sunset. 1.5hrs drive from Tanna airport. But a Rip Off. Two-fold. First the tourist price rose from 1,500 to 9,750 Vatu ($NZ130) – too high for a...More

Just amazing to stare more than an hour into the boiling crater and watching the eruptions. Did the morning and evening tour. In the morning its really familiar with a small group. Must do in Vanuatu!

Mount Yasur was one of the most wonderful things I've ever done. We organised our tour through the White Grass Ocean Resort and it was smooth from start to finish. Watching the volcano shoot up lava, listen to it crashing and banging, and to see...More

Hi Ruth, I'm 73 and did the walk up, slowly. It is now a solid path with local handrails. Many take a breather Take your time - you'll make it - and it's worth seeing again. Terry

The walk from top carpark up to the viewing rim is ~10mins on a concrete path with hand-rails. Its steep, but for 65+ we made it fine. we paused 3 times.
