Well, we knew it was the rainy season, so it wasn’t a surprise that it rained! But it didn’t dampen our enthusiasm for this lovely palm-fringed beach which was everything we’d expected from a South Pacific island. We walked and paddled, and drank beer at the Champagne Beach Bar, which was under cover but had great views. We organised a tour with a local guide who took us to Champagne Beach, Blue Hole and Million Dollar Point for $180 for the three of us. We weren’t planned to go to Louganville but the cruise ship docked here instead of Isle of Pines which closed for visitors as their chief died. We got off the ship early and were one of the first ones to Champagne Beach - having it to ourselves added to its beauty as it isn’t a large beach. It is a decent distance from where the ship docks so we were pleased to be in an air conditioned vehicle. We saw others in the back of utes - fun for a short period. …

It is quite a popular beach but that's not unexpected - it's very picturesque. I recommend snorkelling here - preferably, swim out to the left hand side of the beach. There was a decent amount of coral and fish (e.g. nemo), and the visibility there was quite clear when we were there. You may need to be careful if you're too close to the rocks, as the waves can be quite rough out there at times. You could also try the other side, but we didn't seem to see much there. The beach was beautifully clean and water really invited you in as the colour is amazing!.There is an eatery and a beach bar to satisfy most folk and locals selling their wares .
