We were surprised to discover how interesting a visit to this area of the north shore would be. It's very well laid out with plenty of descriptions regarding the buildings & other areas of interest. There is even an aboriginal rock carving of a whale!...More

A wheelchair-friendly (includes a lift that takes people down to the tunnel level) community garden and sustainability centre. LOTS of raised beds with various herbs, vegies and flowers. Recently completed, very spacious. Lovely views up Sydney Harbour, especially when the sun is low in the...More

Well presented and quite thought provoking. The centre had good signage and clear information to explain the history for the role of the coal loader centre. Interesting and worth a visit. Also, no admission charge either.

Now that the work to has been completed on the roof of the old coal loader one has to wonder what the council was trying to achieve. The location next to one of Sydney's most beautiful headland parks is spectacular. Lots of solar panels and...More

First visit to this marvellous location on Sydney Harbour to view The Red Project art exhibition displayed in the tunnels of what used to be a Coal Loader facility. The venue is, in itself, worth visiting as the stone work in the tunnels is just...More

What a worthwhile use of a historic industrial site - for community education and practical ideas about sustainability and living sustainably, community gardens for local residents - all in a magnificent harbour-side location. The design of the platform garden at the moment appears very geometric...More

Well worth having a look at. It's hard to believe such an industrial 🏭 facility in the heart of North Sydney. And it operated in to the 70s. Great construction.

Not really the time to send people to the Waverton Coal Loader. Sure, if there is an Art or Sustainability Fair, there will be something to see, but a large part of the site is under construction, right now. The Sustainability Centre will likely remain...More

Great Historical area so close to the city, but such another world away. An easy short walk from Waverton Train Station. At the time of our visit there was restoration work on the tunnels, so we couldn't walk thru them. However we were still able...More
