Overview
More
Barmouth developed as one of the major ship building centres in Wales during the 18th & 19th centuries. The harbour still has a small fishing industry but is mainly used by pleasure craft. The estuary is home to Merioneth Yacht Club. Lining the edge of the harbour are cafes, ice-cream parlours and a pub with pleasant gardens to sit out in and watch the world go by.

A small harbour- much nicer when the tide is in-lovely to see the old lifeboat still anchored in the harbour, with the lifeboat station close by, with the larger lifeboat and inshore lifeboats ready for action. A peaceful place, the dolphin statues reminding us that...More

This is quite a small harbour, but it is still an interesting place to potter around, especially if you have a boat or small dingy. Plenty for the kids to do with crabbing etc.

A changing harbour between the tides. Sea or sand ~ you take your pick. In fact unless you have a tide table, you get what you get. Its all lovely anyway. In winter it was fairly deserted, how I like it. It was around Christmas...More
