An absolutely stunning area of the UK. We can see why there is a huge carpark for this place.
As we were staying in Church Stretton we enjoyed a couple of walks through the lovely valleys and over the moorlands.
Waterfalls, scenic views at every turn, moorland ponies, skylarks, kites and much more. So much to see here.
The main pathways are very visible and well signposted.
The National Trust teashop near the carpark was very pleasant with a roof top terrace for good weather eating. Friendly and helpful staff and a good selection of food and drinks (including gluten and dairy free options).
Highly recommended.

Such a beautiful place with lots of different routes to take/ walk.
We completed the Carding Mill and Plush Hill circular walk from an app.
There are toilets, information of walks and a cafe at the car park. Car park is free for NT members. It does get full quickly so don't leave it too late.
Started the walk with at least a mile uphill however it was worth it when you got to the top. Fantastic views.
Lovely to see all the sheep with their lambs and also the ponies grazing.
Would recommend to anyone.
My only slight criticism was the amount of people with their dogs off a lead when there are signs everywhere asking people to keep all dogs on leads as its lambing season. When mentioned to the people letting their dogs run around obviously their dogs are special/ the signs don't mean it's for them. Some people really are selfish.

Our family of four decided to go to cardingmill valley not realy knowing what to expect.
Was greeted by friendly car park attendant, was only the 3rd car there until we left then car park was full. There were 3 trails different lengths and times decide on the middle one 1 1/2 hrs.
Went slightly off route to reservoir that was the short route. Back to our route pathways and streams rocks to go over best not to rush the walk, got to top. All through the walk the views are stunning. All had a great time, well definitely go again.

Stunning scenery with some challenging hikes. Took the green route which was the shortest, took about two hours and passed through some stunning views. Take something you don't mind getting wet, especially if taking kids. Lots of opportunities to have a dip in the streams. Met a very over familiar sheep, guessing it's worked out there is no point climbing the hill for fresh grass if people feed it.

A beautiful place for longer walks or a meeting with nature. Both sides of this place, i.e. from the side of the parking lot (paid parking and usually very busy), a beautiful place for a walk and a picnic with the family where you can meet sheep and wild horses. From the other side, i.e. going up the top of this place, there is a beautiful open space for a quiet and people-free retreat where you can also meet wild horses.

What an incredible place for a walk!
We visited whilst on holiday locally and had a great couple of hours walking.
Highly recommend that you wear good walking shoes as it gets very rocky the further you go.
There are several routes to choose from (or you could go off track) and we chose to complete the medium walk up to the waterfall. This was a busy but enjoyable route and plenty of children were walking this route (however there are a number of parts which they would need assisting if younger).
Lots of areas of the stream to paddle in which lots of children and dogs seemed to be enjoying.
The waterfall was a little disappointing (confirmed by the conversations of others around us). However, this is likely to be as a result of very little wet weather recently.
The views all around are absolutely stunning.
Dogs are of course welcome but due to there being lots of lambs, owners were asked to keep dogs on leads.
There is a visitors cafe and toilets available. They are only offering takeaway service currently.
We thought that the parking cost was a little steep - ÂŁ7 all day (only option) - especially if only visiting for a couple of hours. Luckily we are NT members so were able to park for free by scanning our cards at the machine.
Even though it is large, the car park was very busy when we were leaving around lunchtime so we would recommend getting their early to garauntee a space.

Really nice walking area, we did the shortest route around the reservoir as it was around 5pm when we arrived.
There is a cafe and toilets available for those that get worried about facilities at walking destinations.
It was lovely to see so many sheep and lambs around the paths and was a very friendly and welcoming area.
Is nice for a short walk or for more athletic people a longer walk as well.
Parking is quite expensive at ÂŁ5.50 however I hope this goes towards maintaining the area.

I loved my visit here. Parking costs a flat rate of £5 for the day and the car park and cafe/toilets is run by the national trust. The cafe was decent. For the walk itself I followed the path and signs to the lake and from there you can access a narrow path that takes you on a mostly level walk along the higher parts of the hills for the best views before gradually sloping you back down to the valley for the walk back. As someone who hates climbing hills, this was perfect for me as it reduced the amount of steep walking I needed to do as well as giving me access to a range of the sights at the high and low level. The area is beautiful with streams, woods and hill views. It’s peaceful and the sheep/lambs about everywhere added to the overall charm. It’s a very close drive back to church Stretton for anyone looking to stay in the area and take advantage of all the other scenery and walks on offer.

Visiting with 5 year and 10 year old and dog. Paid ÂŁ5.50 flat rate for car parking. Was hoping to park at the top to reduce the walk to the waterfall, but it was closed. It's all part of one car park, just further along. The children enjoyed playing in the stream that runs from the car park all the way up to the waterfall.
There Is a cafe, toilets and ice cream shop. Pond dipping was on offer as part of the Easter activities. This was incredible.
We completed the hike. There is a shorter easier one to the reservoir which is sign posted as 10 mins from the path. We did the medium to the waterfall. The walk took us over an hour, quicker to come back down. The walk is rocky and wet in places as you have to cross the stream. It is rough underfoot and would be slippy after the rain. Today however was a warm sunny day, we were blown away by the views and loved every minute. We thought the dog and 5 yearnold would struggle. 5 year old was entertained by playing in the stream, dog did have to be carried at points. Truly magical.

I love cardingmill valley in all weathers and pre lockdown was a very frequent walker with my two dogs. During lockdown the cafe was closed and then had a limited access, drinks and ice creams I think. Have twice recently visited the cafe and I find it has been now downgraded to a basic National trust pit stop. Not a sign of a bit of salad or coleslaw, or even baked beans to go with your pasties or sandwiches. The soup was pea and mint both times, frozen peas a bit of mint and a blender. No toasted sandwiches, they used to make the best toastie in shropshire, and no even a baked potato. The sandwiches would be very nice, but for those with gluten intolerance or fat intolerance, there is very little. I know times have been hard, but the cafe used to be full, these days there are more empty tables. A little more thought about the menu and a few bits of garnish on offer would make the whole thing less of a canteen and more of a cafe.

Yes there is. But you do have to pay

Not once you get past the car parks as it gets rocky. But there is a road from Church Stretton going to the top of the Long Mynd though cars use it too.
