The Enchanted Chocolate Mine is a very small visitor attraction located beneath the chocolate shop in Kirkby Lonsdale. Aimed at children and the young-at-heart, this free attraction provides a quick insight into the world of chocolate mining. A short visit might only take 30 seconds but if you follow all the story boards you could be in the mine for up to 10 minutes. Now, a lot of you may be thinking that chocolate only grows on trees, and you'd be right to a point. But here at Kirkby Lonsdale we have been mining chocolate for many years. Actually the Faeries have been mining here for years, not us - but well, you can find all that out for yourself by visiting the history, community and geology pages. The Chocolate Mine is located at the foot of some steep stairs which might prove tricky for those who have mobility issues.

Really good selection of chocolates and sweets, downstairs is a chocolate mine which is great for young children to visit. Its small and compact and a hard hat provided is required (especially adults). Nice little chocolate shop, worth a visit.

What a lovely little shop. Staff are friendly and helpful. The chocolate in here was to die for. Lots of choice. And reasonable prices. There is lots of choice for such a small shop. If in the area I would certainly return.

Went in to buy chocolates which were fab. They also sell alcohol like sheep dip whisky and rubis liquer. Did not go into the mine itself on the basis of other reviews.

The mine is located down two sets of steep stairs from the shop. Hard hats are provided for the second step to make you feel you're entering a mine as well as the roof being low. Only room for a few people in the mine...More

Stopped off here after reading some good reviews on TA - we loved the little story of JM Barrie (being a big Peter Pan fan!) this was lovely and of course we couldn't leave without purchasing some delights 😜👍

A nice little touch to the traditional sweet shop experience - kids had fun descending into the mine.

Spontaneous pop in to this wee shop! Tasty chocolate treats on offer but then went to explore downstairs to find a mini tea emporium! Then heard what I thought was building work and realised I could go down another level to Peter Pan's world. Who...More

From the outside and the fact that it is a chocolate shop it is very enticing to go in. However, once inside it is a bit disappointing as there is a cellar, not a mine, with a couple of ugly pixies in it. There is...More
