We visited back in 2006. We used to visit Nerja as a family each year for about 15 years. The donkey sanctuary was a good part of our trip and we went a few times. I'll always remember a goat called Rambo trying to headbutt...More

Walked to see the donkeys but the sanctuary had closed. Nerja itself is great. Everything you need , beach, shops, restaurants , close by everything from walks to transport. loved the place, would love to spend more time there.

We looked and looked and looked. THERE IS NO DONKEY SANCTUARY. Luckily there are a LOT of bars as I needed to drown my sorrows because I love donkeys. Came home and signed up to Brookes who help beasts of burden worldwide.

A trip to Nerja, we have been 9 times, would not be complete without going to the Donkey Sanctuary but this time walked up and down the road but it has disappeared?

Sad to say the Donkey Sanctuary is now closed due to lack of funding and lack of support from the local authority (or so I believe). All live-stock found new homes so don't worry, just the workers came off worse.
