All these Monastries offer somthing a little different from one another. What does not differ is the sense of wonder at what it must have taken to build them.

Many stairs, as with most (all?) of the monasteries in the area. So worth it. Visiting something so old with all the art and architecture still intact the way it was originally built is stunning and mind blowing. The view is outstanding. Tasteful clothing is...More

Roussanou Monastery was one of four Metorea monasteries I visited. The church was beautiful and views wonderful but it pales in comparison to Megalo and St Stephen’s ( it would probably rate a 5🌟 if it was by itself).

The Roussanou nunnery has a stunning position and it is quite a climb to get up there. It's a small institution with only, I think, seven nuns and it's not as old as some of the other Meteora monasteries. However, it has some interesting points;...More

This small Monastery is worth visiting and on a tour you walk in at the top road and then meet your transport at the bottom road, so no uphill walking. Very small and only a short visit is necessary but beautiful church.
