It's not the biggest or highest, but there is something very "Black Narcissus" about the bell tower and the view - very atmospheric, and with some amazing frescos. Definitely worth a visit, away from the crowds.

Great views of natural formations.All monasteries have small churches because of limited space.All are very nice and have rest rooms and can be approached by car.But you will have to climb many steps be aware.All monasteries charge some money for entrance.

All the monasteries of Meteora are well worth visiting but can get very crowded. Even if you only see them from the outside you should go.

We visited three monasteries- Great Meteora, Holy Trinity and Agios Nikolas. The latter was our favorite. It had a certain charm and was easy to picture monks living there. Holy Trinity we visited because of the James Bond movie, but there wasn't much to it....More
