Thank you Rosie and Roger for the fabulous tasting. The vertical of Gruner Veltliner 2019 vs 2020 was really interesting and you have a fabulous Cabernet Franc (should've grabbed more bottles). I definitely recommend to stop by this small vineyard in Central Hawkes Bay it's really worth it.

Super small vineyard off the beaten track. A little gem. Great tour of the vines, laid back style. Bit of wine tasting and chat about the area. Definitely will go back when passing through.

Got a tip to visit this little gem from another cellar door, and so glad we decided to check it out. It was our best winery visit of our drive around the north island, both the experience and the wines tasted.
We were greeted in the car park by Rosie and invited to go for a drive through their vineyards and to check out the great views.
It was fascinating to hear of Rosie and Rodger's background and why/how they do things at Lime Rock. Beautiful wines & will be looking out for any that we can find back home here in SA.

We had been before, tasted and purchased some wine but did not let that deter us. There was a buzzing, light hearted atmosphere when we turned up last Saturday. A good range of their wines were available for tasting and Rosie talked us through what they had been doing since our last visit. I was very taken with their 2018 Gruner Veltliner. It was a new varietal that I was only introduced to on my last visit in 2017. Since then I have tried this varietal from other vineyards, but this one from Lime Rock is quite exceptional and leaves the others standing. This is clearly a fun place to visit and I'm already looking forward to coming again.

Rosie and Roger rock! Great time visiting Lime Rock. A drive through the vines followed by an extensive line up of wines to taste and fresh home made bread. A great chinwag and looking forward to a box of wine on our doorstep when we return home.

On our last visit Rodger was our host and gave us a great run down.tasting of the wines. This time Rosie met us - very friendly and happy greeting - we came for a taste, a bottle (or two) with a picnic - but we wound up in her 4WD having a tour around the property while she gave us a run down about the property and pointed out the views from the hill above the winery. After that she suggested we park our car off the parking area into the shade and then gave us a comprehensive tasting experience. One of the Gruner Veltliner's was very nice, but I personally fancied the Merlot and especially the Cab Franc. We decided on one of each of those and had our picnic in a nice shady area - and then wound up buying a few bottles to take home. The Late Harvest was a real hit with the two ladies in our party so a couple of those were liberated for home use as well. We love going to small boutique wineries and have our favourites - Lime Rock has just been placed on that list - we'll definitely be back - thanks for a great experience Rosie

This is one of the most fascinating vineyards I have visited in recent years. We weren't quite sure what to expect but needn't have worried. There was a friendly welcome from the owners and just to provide us with a bit of context we got a bespoke tour of the vineyard and learned something of its history. This was followed up by a tasting session. I was especially impressed by their Pinot Grigio while the Gruner Veltliner was a wine I had never previously encountered but will definitely revisit. However, the piece de resistance was their Pinot Noir which rivals many that I have tried from Central Otago. The owners have worked very hard to make this vineyard what it has become and I definitely recommend a visit to anyone who wants to try some really outstanding wines. Thanks Rosie.

We decided to travel to Lime Rock as we haven't been for a couple of years as it was a bit disappointing last visit. Took a picnic with us and had a taste of the wines with Rodger Tynan as our host. He knows his stuff and was very pleasant - greeted us at the door and was happy to have us try the range. We're red drinkers but the Gruner Feldliner was quite nice for a white wine. The Pinot Noir's were very acceptable and the Merlot was nice. A Cabernet Franc (which wasn't available at our previous visit) was opened for us and was also very nice. We had a Merlot with our picnic and bought a Franc to take home plus a Pinot Noir. Two or three other couples arrived while we were there and one couple was chauffered by Rodger up to the vineyard to have a look around. We were left to guard the place while he was away - so trusting - but we didn't have a truck to load up so stayed with our picnic and the Merlot until their return. Overall very good - we'll be back - Thanks for a nice visit Rodger

Beautiful location, very tasty wines (including non-traditional varieties for Hawkes Bay, Pinot noir, Sauvignon Blanc) and friendly informative people made me really glad I stopped here on my way from Wellington to Napier. After my tasting, Rosie invited me to explore their vineyard and its great views. Well worth the detour to visit them.

On our way to the Bay, taking the route through the Gorge, we came across Lime Rock Wines. The venue was closed, so as we were turning around to leave, we were greeted by the owner on his tractor and he invited us in to taste. On leaving he said we could go for a drive through the vineyard to see the views, which were stunning. What a great host!
