Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely place and waterfall is awesome! Loved the different plants and flowers in their garden. Very beautiful spot. I recommend checking out, we went here and then drove to another waterfall not far so make a trip out of it.

Visited 11th of August. This place was so worth it, i was staying not too far but i would’ve driven from Apia just for this. I paid 10 tala into the honesty box (no one was at the “counter”). It is so beautiful and i had the entire waterfall to myself. 100% would recommend (especially over Fuipisia waterfall)

I was blown away by the beauty of this waterfall! I’ve never seen anything like it - wanted to just stare at it for ages and wished there was a trek down to it to get closer…maybe some day? Then I discovered the fully labeled botanical garden that we had rushed through to get to the view of the falls! I’m always looking at plants and wondering what they are, so I really appreciated the signs on everything, in addition to the beauty of the garden.

The entrance is off the Main South Coast Road, not far from Le Mafa Pass Road, and leads into a car park. From here it's just a short level walk through a very well kept garden, to the viewing platform for the 54 metre plunging waterfall. You can't get to the bottom off the falls. There's a small cash entry fee.

Upon entering this property to view the falls, the pleasant Samoan woman charged $10 tala/person, invited us to view the falls, and said she would come over soon and make some coconut cream. Sounds strange, falls and cream, but sure....
Along with other visitors, We viewed the falls, took pictures, and were ready to leave. But we waited patiently not wanting to disappoint the lady. She then gathered the tourists, husked a coconut and made some coconut milk. We said 'thank you' and made to leave when she told everyone to pay 10 tala. We all say we already paid, but she says we need to pay again "because I am sure you will now make some coconut cream". Actually, I won't. I did pay more money after protesting; others got more money from their cars, and the poor New Zealanders who had no more tala were informed New Zealand money was ok.
This practice is clearly contrived, highly deceptive, and left all the visitors feeling unpleasant. The falls were nice and so are coconuts, but this practice really soured the visit for all. It takes advantage of the good will of visitors and their reluctance to engage in argument. I suspect it happens day in and day out and makes a lot of money.
as for the falls, the long distance view of a fall is arguably not worth $20 tala.
As two better alternatives, the fuipisia falls are nearby and upstream. It cost 10 tala and you can get great photos and walk all the way to the top of the falls (unlike Sopo'aga where you view from far away). Also, further west are the togitogiga falls in the National Park. These are by donation, and you can swim here- shallow parts for kids and deep parts for jumping in off ledges. Here, your money goes to upgrading facilities in the national park, not a private purse.

Really nice place, but disappointed that there was a admission fee which I wasn’t prepared for. When you have a family in tow, that can get expensive

Spectacular view, but you pay for it. Entry is expensive (compared to other places) at $10 per person, and all you get for that is a view of the waterfall. There aren’t any fences or barricades either at the viewing spot, which drops straight down a cliff face. Can be a bit nerve wracking with young kids! It is nice to see, but certainly not a must see if you plan on seeing a few more waterfalls or are on a budget.

A quick and easy stop next to the road with fantastic views of the waterfall. There are lovely gardens with all the plants and flowers named in English, Samoan and their botanical names.
The waterfall is few meters away from the entrance. It is just a short stop and visit, but quite amazing to see all the green jungle around and the waterfall coming out from the middle.

The setting on the hill is actually the viewpoint towards the Sopoaga Waterfalls. At its edge a small cabin offers some seats for comfortable viewing of the Falls, during the food tasting. A suckling piglet was perfectly cooked in Umu - the local ground outdoor oven. First they heat the lava rocks, then they put the food, cover it with the rocks and on the top they put huge fresh banana leaves to keep the moisture in. The result is yummy, yummy!!! Each one of us had a fresh taro leaf (not a plate) with porc, breadfruit antara and coconut. Delicious.
There was a coconut husking demonstration too.
The place is very beautiful, surrounded by dense vegetation and colourful flowers. The view towards the Sopoaga Waterfalls, unforgettable.

These falls are gorgeous - the coconut demonstration after wards was the icing on the cake. This cost 5 talas to enter but most places will cost.
Tip for visiting these places, there are taxis that you can hire for the day for $200 talas. Much preferable to hiring a car or taking a tour.
