    Teatro Colon English Tour
This is a must for a visit to Buenos Aires. A globally iconic theater, the tour is valuable and the guide is great at providing context on the jaw-dropping architecture that houses the unique history that has been made in this arena. An acoustic marvel as well for musical people, this is a key piece of BsAs rich culture. If not a show, definitely do this!

    Unlit auditorium was a disappointment
We made reservations online for a guided tour in English at 11 am. It was fairly easy to find one of the two entrances where we waited until told to line up. Our guide was pleasant but a bit challenging to hear her at times with our large group and the acoustics in the opera rooms. The inside was very beautifully restored. We were ushered into box seats on one of the upper opera levels to view the main theatre. Unfortunately, they were testing the lighting for an upcoming show so the seating area was darkened and the stage lit up with various colors. We were unable to see much of the seating area or the painted dome above.

One of Buenos Aires's Most Elegant Buildings
Teatro Colon is considered to be one of Buenos Aires's most elegant buildings. It is a world class center for classical music, ballet and opera. Construction began in 1880 and it opened in 1908. Unfortunately, tours of the interior were not available during my stay. I did enjoy admiring the exterior and had a snack (Le Grand Cafe Colon and a mousse duo pastry).

    STILL SINGING ITS PRAISES..TEATRO COLON
I finally returned to Buenos Aires after three years. I was anxious to show my friend the fabulous theater even though there are no performances during this summer break. The building is beautiful, the renovations perfect, and it is always a treat to view some of the many details that are art themselves. Not to be missed! The only sad detail is that we may no longer tour the basement which stored volumes of costumes and 10 000 pair of shoes as I recall as it spread for blocks underground. But there is a display in Boca of some pieces.

    Not to be missed!
Absolutely unbelievable theater! We had an excellent tour guide! Unfortunately due to summer time there were no productions. However one should not miss the tour. It was interesting, informative and very enjoyable. They have it down to a science so that no group collides into the other, no disruptions. There are either English or Spanish tours. Small enough groups. Suggest booking in advance.

    Visit!!!!!!’
You will love this tour. The place is absolutely amazing. The history behind it just as Amazon. A must see. Especially if you are a musician or choir member. If you love classical music and better yet if you understand the concepts of acoustics.

    Ticket overpriced
The place is wonderful and certainly has a lot of history among so much marble with a French atmosphere. The guided tour is way too expensive for what it offers. At times the presentation was not about the theater... I expected to see the stage area... maybe dressing room area... The place is very beautiful and what was seen on the visit can be seen if you buy a ticket for some presentation.

A must see for history, culture and arts enthusiasts
This magnificent theatre was built in 1908-09 and recently underwent a massive restoration. It is so definitely worth a visit! You will need to book a tour. They do them in Spanish and English. On the only day we could go the only tour was in Spanish and we took it anyway as that's the only way you can look through the building. Our tour guide soon realised we weren't Spanish speaking, and she did a lovely job of briefly explaining key points to us in English. The building's interior is impressive, and the restoration means everything is in beautiful condition. One of the things that most impressed us was the fact that it was a very, very hot day and they have managed to air-condition a building with massively high ceilings. The outer rooms and corridors are beautiful, and you will be taken into the boxes to sit for a while during part of the tour. There is a very attractive cafe opposite the box office area where you buy tickets for the tours. Everyone was helpful and pleasant. Well worth a visit.

    Spectacular
There was no availability through the online bookings, I therefore went in person to the Teatro Colon and got an admission for the fraction of the suggested tour price. The guide was monotonous with long useless explanations. But the interiors are totally magnificent and spectacular... glad I found my way in! Paul Ottawa Canada 🇨🇦

    Spectacular Teatro Colon
Spectacular and beautiful theater. Tour was about 45 minutes and worth it, even if you are English speaking and have to do the Spanish tour. If you want an English tour make sure to get there before the end of the day, as the last English tour was 4 PM or maybe a little before.

We wanted to see the theatre so badly that we took a tour in Spanish, even though only one of our group spoke Spanish. It was the only tour available on our last day in Buenos Aires. Jaime did a great job translating for us and the theater was beautiful. The guide was very gracious when she found out we were non-Spanish speakers and offered to answer any questions we had in English. There was even a rehersal going one that we got to see for a few minutes. Book ahead for an English tour and you won't be dissapointed.

This would have been an excellent tour (the opera house is beautiful) had we been able to see the concert hall itself! A rehearsal was in progress, so the hall was completely dark except for a single light on the stage. We were allowed to sit in a box seat, but unable to see the grandeur of the place. It would have been preferable to have been warned on the website about this huge gap in the tour experience. Granted, our tour guide told us, but at that point - even when she said, "should we continue then?" - what could we say? No mention was made of a refund.

Wow! How special to tour the interior of this theatre. It ended-up being a highlight of our time in Buenos Aires.

We booked one of the English speaking tours on the website. (Note—we were glad to have done so in advance, as the tour was sold out day-of!). Our fellow tourists were from all around the world, which was really neat.

The tour guide spoke English well and provided great insight into the architecture and history of the building. I thought the right amount of detail was highlighted—enough to be interesting and engaging, not so much that you got overwhelmed.

The building is absolutely gorgeous; its stunningly ornate interior is a real tribute to opera and the arts. The tour included the beautiful lobby areas, which feature several kinds of marble, sculptures of famous composers, ornate stained glass ceilings, and several motifs in the decor devoted to composers. We also saw the gilded “hall of mirrors.” And we saw the gorgeous main auditorium, with its many levels of seating and exquisite main chandelier. While we were in the auditorium, we got to see the crew working on a set for a new opera that will soon premiere.

The tour took about an hour and was well worth the time and cost. What a gorgeous building, full of life and art.

My wife and I attended the ballet performance of The Taming of the Shrew at Teatro Colon during a recent trip to Buenos Aires. We had standing room tickets on the 6th level behind the last row of seats. There was no problem seeing the stage. The music by the orchestra was outstanding. The architecture of the theater is spectacular. We were able to see the grandeur of the theater and experience a performance for only $1,400 pesos, which at the time of purchase was US$5.00. It was really special to get to see Teatro Colon.

We went to the 11am tour in English, led by Lucia. Fun tour, excellent guide, learned lots of tidbits about the theatre and the productions. Beautiful theatre. Wish we had had time to attend a performance.

Beautiful venue with a rich history. Our tour guide was very knowledgable and spoke great English. There are only a few English language tours daily so book online. They were sold out on Trip advisor and Viatour so I booked directly with the venue.

Exploring Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires was a captivating journey into the world of opera, music, and architectural grandeur. The theater’s opulent architecture and historic significance provided a rich backdrop for a cultural experience. Attending a performance at the Teatro Colón was a true immersion into the world of art and music. The acoustics and the grandeur of the auditorium added to the magic of the experience. Guided tours of the theater allowed me to appreciate its history and architectural details, from the stunning chandeliers to the intricate ceiling paintings. The dedication to preserving the cultural heritage of the theater was evident throughout. Teatro Colón is a must-visit for art and music enthusiasts, offering a glimpse into the artistic soul of Buenos Aires.

The theater is stunning…no expense spared when it was built, that’s for sure. We took an English tour. Lasts just under 1 hour. The guide’s English was pretty good, we felt that the tour could have been a bit more robust in what information was shared about the architecture and function of the theater.
