What can I say about this wonder? It's always a pleasure to visit. I highly recommend that you buy a ticket to appreciate an orchestra concert or other similar event to appreciate how the building has been designed so that the music can be heard perfectly anywhere. If that possibility is not given, there are also guided tours that are a perfect opportunity to know more about the history of the place and to have some chance of being able to hear a practice of some orchestra, as has happened to my girlfriend and me during our visit. I also know that there are guided tours in English and Portuguese. I highly recommend taking tickets out of the guided tour in advance of the Buenos Aires city website.

Guided visit to the Colon Theater, excellent! Buy the ticket at the Theater itself, 1 hour before the start (there are various times) it lasts 2 hours and you walk from the fabulous entrance hall, majestic staircases, we pass through halls of indescribable beauty until you enter the boxes, unfortunately the main lights were off ( impressive spiders) but we were able to capture sound since they were tuning the piano for a concert that night. Guides are from the Theater so there is no need to hire an external tour, national price $8,000 almost $20,000 foreigners (6 to 17 u$) If you come to Buenos Aires, don't get it, you can miss it.

We bought tickets for this tour at the Teatro Colon box office a couple hours before the tour (in English) started. They limit tour groups to 40 persons. We had an excellent guide who told us the history of the theater as well as some of the interesting details about the construction itself. We saw the major spaces of the theater including the concert hall. During the tour we stopped periodically to take photos, no flash allowed. The pace was easygoing, but it moved along to coordinate with groups following us.

Tour in the Teatro Colon was great. Guide was very knowledgeable. Cost 22,000 pesos each for a 50 minute tour inside the Opera house. Worth looking inside & the stories. Note, there only have limited tours in English & they fill up quite quickly.

Well worth a visit even if ticket price is a little high at 23,000 peso. Guided tour only. Available in English at 11am. Our guide was very good. Tour lasted just under an hour. Really beautiful place. You can get decent tickets for an operatic performance for around 80 USD so worth checking out if you'd prefer to visit this way.

Lindoooo place. The guided tour is a bit salty, but as I wanted to know the theater and had no repair available, I ended up taking the guided tour for me and my husband.
The visit lasted about 1 hour, the Portuguese guide was very kind, we were lucky the great theater to be with the lights on. But before starting the visit they already warn that they can or may not, be with the lights on.
I believe that if you go to see a play in the theater, you can get access to the same rooms we visited. Stay the tip ;)

I spent an indispensable time in Buenos Aires. I had been to the city other times and had only looked outside the Theatre but this time we decided to make the guided tour. Without a doubt, it is very worth it because its interior is beautiful with works of art, floors, walls and beautiful ceilings. Our has no way you don't know it. We did the guided tour in Portuguese that has in 4 or 5 hours, I think, just enter the site you can have access to the hours and values. But a tip, if you choose the tour in Portuguese better buy by the website in advance, because I arrived for the 11:45 time about 10 minutes earlier and had no more tickets, I had to wait for the time of 13h.

The present Colón occupies an entire city block and replaces an original theatre built by Italian Francesco Tamburini and completed by Belgian architect Julio Dormal in 1857.
Due to its popularity, the theatre became too small, and a bigger one was needed, so a new one was built and opened 20 years later, on 25 May 1908, with Giuseppe Verdi's Aïda.
Today, this impressive seven-story theatre horseshoe-shaped auditorium has 2,487 seats (slightly more than the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London) and a standing room for 500 spectators.
Considered one of the ten best opera houses in the world, it's full of history. Around every corner, there is something new, from incredible decorations and murals to hand-blown glasswork. It's really amazing, and if you have the time, see a performance or at least take one of the frequent 50-minute backstage tours to view the stunning interior, the costume department, and the ballerinas' dressing rooms.
Only guided tours are available in English or Portuguese, so it's best to book a date and time to see this magnificent building.
TIP: The online booking system shows no English tours available, but there are, so go in person to book instead.

Confession, I am not a big fan of opera or ballet but nonetheless found this a really excellent place to visit. We had an excellent tour guide who delivered her talk in English. The building is truly palatial, wow! Just be aware there is a slight chance the huge auditorium could be in dark due to operational reasons but the guide warned us in advance - it is functioning place for concerts etc. It was fine the day of our trip, they were moving scenery around on a revolving platform. One tip, it is popular even in low season so might be best to book a day ahead especially if you want a non Spanish speaking tour. All in all, a great experience.

The most beautiful theater I've ever seen! Exceptional architecture, everything very well preserved, the technical visit is very interesting as we visit behind the scenes, something that is not possible on a presentation day, it is very interesting and worth the ticket price, seeing behind the scenes, clothes, the logistics. On the night of the show, it is the same, perfect acoustics, lighting and perfect attractions. I attended a night with the Buenos Aires symphony.

Buenas, quiero saber cómo sacar entradas para los palcos del Colón. Me deja agregar solo una entrada. Con esa sola me incluye para los que vengan al palco conmigo ?

We have purchased our tickets online directly from Teatro Colon and received etickets. The email said no need to print, to just show the eticket, but did not say what entrance to use or if need to go to box office. Where do we enter and where do we meet the theater's tour guide? Thanks
Written 4 March 2024
At the time of our visit, only one entrance was open, and signs directed us around the block. You'll enter into a hallway near the ticket office, and it will be clear where to meet your tour guide.
