Perching on the top of Palacio Barolo, Salon 1923 offers what has to be one of Buenos Aires' best views. From the café's balcony you can see across Plaza de Congreso towards the Congreso and all the way down Avenida de Mayo through to Casa Rosada. The venue offers special themed evenings (tango, jazz). The food is average and what most locals resent is the fact unlike a normal café, you can't just walk in and order from the menu as you please- you have to pay for an entry ticket (quite expensive) which entitles you to a small assortment of fixed meals. In summary, the views make the visit worthwhile but don't expect to have a sublime dining experience here.

This is a busy place to go in a nice building. However the view is not that great and the drinks offered are poor and not well prepared.

We just spent a superb couple of hours at the 7pm early dinner sitting at Salon 1923. The views of the beautiful Palacio Barolo and the vista over BA are just stunning. Surprisingly, the food and service are also first-class for a location that you might think is a tourist trap. For 8000 pesos per person (around US$12) we had an aperitif, a cocktail and 4 generous plates of delicious tapas. A great experience all round and very good value.

We got the priced tickets for 2 that included a drink and 2 food item/person. Overall it was worth it. The restaurant is cute, great for dates, the two terraces are nice - from obelisk terrace you get view of eva peron monument and obelisk, from congress terrace you get a beautiful sunset view on the congresso building.
Drinks were decent, aperol spiritz was decent, fernet was ok (you need to develop taste for it), food was good - pear brie was good, pepper dish very tasty - this were 2 of the few vegetarian options. Service and ambiance were v good, would definitely recommend for sunset views and a romantic meal.

I don't recommend the place. They make you pay the tickets before entering and getting to know the place and the reality. It doesn't have a good view, you feel seated between 4 walls and the food is not well prepared. Too expensive for the quality and experience.

Perched at the top of one of the most emblematic buildings in Buenos Aires, this bar offers good drinks, finger food and views of the city. Booking also the guided tours is a must.

One would normally finish in Salon 1923 located on the 16th floor of Palacio Barolo as a part of the official tour where you exchange your lemonade voucher for a refreshing lemonade (well advertised in the tour program). But you can come to Salon 1923 without having to go through 1,5 h tour of the building (however I recommend to go on a tour!) but you still need to buy a ticket (at the time of the visit it was 400 ps vs 800 ps for the tour of Palacio). And it is well worth it even though you would still be expected to order something in the restaurant (as a minimum coffee or tea). The views are stunning! And probably the best of Buenos Aires!

ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 20, 2024 (around 5:00 p.m.) I MADE A RESERVATION FOR TAPEO FOR 2 ON THE TERRACE OVERLOOKING THE OBELISK FOR 7:00 PM THAT SAME DAY. THE PLACE REQUIRES ADVANCE PAYMENT TO RESERVE PAYMENT AND PAYMENT BY IMMEDIATE TRANSFER TO YOUR ACCOUNT (this is one of the options offered). WHEN I ARRIVE AT THE PLACE THEY TELL ME THAT MY RESERVATION IS CANCELED BECAUSE THERE IS NO WATER, THAT I CAN RESCHEDULE OR ASK FOR A REFUND OF THE MONEY. I REQUEST THAT THE MONEY BE REFUNDED ON THE SAME WAY IN THE SAME FORM THAT I HAVE PAID AND MATÍAS (WHO IS THE EMPLOYEE AT THE BOOTH IN THE GROUND FLOOR HALL) TELLS ME THAT IT WILL BE REFUNDED NEXT FRIDAY. I ASKED FOR A COMPLAINT BOOK, I SPOKE WITH THE SUPERVISOR. HOWEVER, TODAY, SUNDAY, I STILL HAVE NOT HAD THE MONEY RETURNED IN MY ACCOUNT. IT SEEMS LIKE THIS COMPANY HAS NO REFUND POLICY. A SHAME AND A SCAM THAT THEY MAKE UNDUE RETENTION OF MY MONEY SINCE THEY ARE THE ONE WHO CANCELS. THEY HAVE DEPRIVED ME FROM HAVING MY OWN MONEY!!! MONEY THAT WAS INTENDED TO HAVE A DINNER TO CELEBRATE WEDDING ANNIVERSARY. THEY SHOULD COMPENSATE ME WITH DOUBLE THE MONEY THEY HAVE WRONGLY WITHHELD AS COMPENSATION IN ADDITION TO THE IRREPARABLE DAMAGE THEY HAVE CAUSED ME BY NOT BEING ABLE TO HAVE MY OWN MONEY TO SPEND THAT SAME NIGHT IN ANOTHER PLACE.

Absolutely brilliant. Everything was great. 6/5 stars. We had a date night here and everything was wonderful from start to finish. The staff were very friendly. The cocktails looked great and tasted very good. The food was also very good. The highlight was of course the sunset and the great view over the city. A must for couples in Buenos Aires.
