Full-Day Franschhoek Wine Tram Tour from Cape Town

81 reviews
With three centuries of wine-growing heritage, the Franschhoek Valley is one of the Cape’s top wine areas—and the Franschhoek Wine Tram, a vintage-style tram, is the perfect way to explore. Travel in air-conditioned comfort from downtown Cape Town, then choose between the purple and orange lines. Besides an onboard wine tasting and narration, you have time to visit multiple estates on one of two lines.

We dipped into this lovely small space and were overcome with the diversity and absolute brilliance of the various bits of artistry collected by its thoughtful, attentive and kind curator. We browsed without intrusion, with responses to our questions delivered in informative bits of detail about the crafts and craft makers. I selected gifts that will undoubtedly be distinctive and cherished for years to come. Don't miss this gem of South African crafts.

This is the best kept secret in Cape Town. If you want original great African gifts with friendly service then this is the place to go. We bought all our vacation gifts here! Forget the mass produced Greenmarket rubbish and head here!

I spent at least an hour in this tiny shop looking at all the wonderful treasures. A definite cut above the market and stores selling things often from other countries. Apparently the owner deals directly with the creators of the objects sold. I got a beautiful huge bangle made in paper, some paper maché bowls made by a group fighting HIV/AIDS, a unique stuffed animal with a hand painted face, made by women, and some telephone wire bowls that were nicer and cheaper than in the market. The saleswoman also gave me some great advice about an art museum not yet in the guides and was generally warm and welcoming. I'm sorry I didn't get more!

I could spend a fortune in this shop! I remember when it was in the Iziko South African National Gallery and I would always make a bee line there whether it was for gifts, postcards or treats for myself. I am currently pining for their felt scarves, but it is usually the jewellery that I like the most.
