Full-Day Franschhoek Wine Tram Tour from Cape Town

81 reviews
With three centuries of wine-growing heritage, the Franschhoek Valley is one of the Cape’s top wine areas—and the Franschhoek Wine Tram, a vintage-style tram, is the perfect way to explore. Travel in air-conditioned comfort from downtown Cape Town, then choose between the purple and orange lines. Besides an onboard wine tasting and narration, you have time to visit multiple estates on one of two lines.

I was there en of January 2021 and the experience and food was as great as always. My kids loved it and very happy that the standard of service haven't dropped since lockdown. I use to go there quite often with tourists and wanted to see if things are still the same like March 2020, it definitely is. Our guide, Omar, was as informative and helpful as always. I also like to make special mention about the food who was great value and tasty. Definitely a lovely kid friendly and family experience worth doing.

At the start, there will be a indoor explanation on what the farm does, and the egg hatching process. You will also get a chance to hold and even stand on an actual ostrich egg. The next part of the tour bring you to see the new borns; you might get to carry an baby ostrich if its available. You can buy snack to feed the adult ostrich (they might be quite strong to pick up food from your hand). The tour ended with some self-service drinks and souvenirs shop.

A really fun way to spend an hour if you are near cape point... the tours are small ie one family at a time basically and so personal and informative well worth the small cost which incidentally included a free cup of tea at the end! Whats not to love!?! Children very happy to also go and visit the reptile centre on site and again were offered to hold a snake etc. A great place for all ages for an hour.

Everything was closed when we visited it, but it was still worth it. You can see lots of ostriches there, which for an American, is certainly a cool site. Because.... ostriches.
