Try pre book
Mar 2021 • Couples
Would suggest during busy times to pre book for the park. They have a day visitors quota. Our 1st day we had no problems, second day park was full. The park is very lush full of water and the animals are in peak condition

Very slow
Sep 2020
Long queues in the heat, you MUST book in advance as due to COVID there are daily quotas and only a limited number of cars may enter.

An amazing drive - saw all the big five as well as 2 honey badgers, a genet and a white tailed mongoose.

Malelane Gate walk at sunset
Sep 2020
Very friendly, helpful, professional staff. Walked down to the bridge from the hotel in the afternoons at sunset. Great view from the bridge.

Should be easier
Aug 2020
This should be a relatively simple process (even with COVID), yet it is not! On two out of three days, their computer system was down and the staff are rude and unprofessional. Plan at least half an hour to get into the park and if you are a day visitor, no alcohol is allowed.

Great gate to start
Aug 2019 • Family
I like to enter this gate. You can drive the all day and leave the kruger at the crocodille bridge the other side. Start berg en dal en then take Some of roads direction pretoriuskop to Skukuza and then to crocodille bridge or take other directions. I want and Will come back for sure

Looking for a leopard book a trip with Shawn from Buhala Lodge
Feb 2020
Exciting daytrip starting at the south gate with our guide Shawn from the Buhala lodge at 5.30am just before the Malelane gate opens up. As the foliage in February are still very green and thick bushes were still rather green spotting the animals from the dirt roads is not that easy. Our guide after a long search spotted a young leopard and a little further on his mother. With a distance of just 60/80 meters Took some beautiful pictures with a 300mm tele lens. Furthermore, we encountered most of the wildlife than one can except the rhino. Besides our trip with the guide we also went on our own, but nothing compared to a trip with a well experienced guide so if you are in the Buhala Lodge book a tour with Shawn and then you really get to see all aspects of the Kruger wildlife.

Friendly and efficient
Jan 2020 • Solo
I entered the Kruger park at Malelane gate, partly because it's convenient but also for the wildlife in the area

I was greeted witg smiles and checking in was swift and efficient

It's worth making time to stop at Afsaal, the nearest picnic spot in the area and plan ahead to travel on some of the dirt roads in the area

Must visit Krüger Park
Dec 2019
We have been here 5y ago and made now in Dez again the 3.45am Morning Safari. Great experience to see active animals early morning and watch the sunrise.
We continued private car after Safari and were very lucky to see all Big 5 and really a great life time experience in this huge National Park

Warm feelings
Dec 2019
It is always such a joy to enter the Kruger National Park through Malelane gate. It looks stunning, it is just four hours from Johannesburg and the service is fantastic and fast. We always leave the park through this gate as well so it is also the place where we have to say goodbye, but we will always come back.
