Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

May 2016 • Couples
On 17th May 2016, we met Nami Jomi to arrange a snorkeling tour for Wednesday, 19th May 2016. She told us that her husband, Daisuke Jomi, was returning that day from Japan so that trips were only available on Thursday, 20th May 2016. We finally agreed that Nami Jomi would organize a snorkeling trip to Manta Cleaning station snorkeling point ('stammtisch') and Vertigo Reef for appr. one hour at each snorkeling spot (45 USD per person) on 20th May 2016 in the afternoon. The total time of the trip was calculated to last appr. 4 hours. She promised to let us know the exact departure time the evening before.

Nothing the like happened. We finally went to the dive shop (opposite the fire brigade building in Colonia) on 20th May 2016 at 12.30 pm. We were told by Fernando, employee of Nami and her husband, that we should return to our hotel. He promised to pick us up there within the next hour. Nothing happened until 02.00 pm. Then, we went over to the dive shop again and saw Fernando and his colleague working in the dive shop while walking on the bridge over the Yap lagoon. Arrived there, the dive shop was deserted. We waited half an hour and went up to the hotel (Yap Pacific Divers) where we finally found Fernando and his colleague at around 02.30 pm. They promised to get the tour started soon.

After a while, Fernando said that he would have to rent a boot and wanted us to prepay the trip. We gave him 45 USD. Then, he wanted another 10 USD for the fuel. When he asked a third time for a prepayment (for oil for the rented boat), it was already 04.30 pm. Having regard to the late time, we finally renounced the trip (it would be dark until we would have reached the snorkeling spots).

Fernando refunded the sum of 55 USD. However, we wanted to talk to Nami. Fernando told us that she was taking a rest and was not willing to talk to us. The very helpful staff of Yap Pacific Divers Hotel tried to call her cell phone. The first time, she did not answer the phone, the second time, the phone was switched off.

In the evening, we met her accidentally in town. Even though Fernando was in contact with her all day long about our case, she pretended to know nothing about our canceled trip. As a first explanation, Nami Jomi said that they had cancelled the trip and had informed us about it. Then, she changed the story and claimed that we had cancelled the trip ourselves the day before, but was not able to tell us whom we purportedly told about our alleged cancellation. The story of our cancellation is a pure lie. We spent our honeymoon in Yap to snorkel and blocked the day for the trip. Actually, we are convinced that she either forgot about our trip or found more lucrative options to rent the boats of the company.

Thanks to the dishonnest behaviour, we used Wednesday as (useless) gap day and lost Thursday, 20th May, entirely, since we still hoped to be able to do the tour later that day and made no alternative plans (since we were always asked to wait a little longer).

This manner of breaching contracts and behaviour towards customers trusting in the good will of a tour operator is just shameful and dishonorable.

Therefore, we cannot accept Nami Jomi's apologies.

We went here and while the website is up and the directions are available, the buildings are nothing like the website. It appears this may have gone out of business and been abandoned. The cottages and nearby buildings are in bad shape so I certainly wouldn't stay in them. The beach area is lovely.
