Just wanted to second ridgetop1's comment about the gothic archway - I'm not sure where it's from, but it's definitely not Yap. There are a number of reasons to visit the island - diving (the reason for many if not most tourist visits), the local culture (traditional clothing is not uncommon), relaxation (Type A's will quickly run out of things to do) - but gothic architecture is not one of them.

We chartered a cab from O'Keefe's ($20 for the hour) and went out to Sunset Park to catch the sunset. Very, very happy we did. We caught one of the best sunsets I've ever had a chance to see. The beach is so shallow for so long, and the wind was so still, we got some mirror-like pictures of a beautiful setting sun over the mangroves.
There are some bugs out there, so spray wouldn't be a bad idea, but it's definitely worth a trip; only about a 10-minute drive from Colonia.

Sunset park is a small neighborhood beach park in one of the villages on Yap. The picture as of December 2014 is a large gothic archway. No such thing exists.
The park requires a small fee for non-locals.
