Organised a trip for three couples to do the Mountains to Sea bike trail with Mountain Bike Station.

Fantastic communication with Steph that made the trip easy and hassle free.

Trip was great and the accommodation was excellent.

Good briefings and support over the 5 day trip.

Highly recommended.

What an adventure !

We started the 5 day cycle from Ohakune choosing to cycle the return trip on the Old Coach rd rather than do the downhill from Turoa.
Mountain bike station are great and very accomodating .While they don’t travel with you they do provide a comprehensive briefing each day and the bikes are brilliant( no flat tyres) . You feel like you are in good hands.

Ruatiti Valley on day 2 was a highlight for me as the scenery is so beautiful .We managed our way through the ‘hard part’ the Mangapurua track without incident to reach the Bridge to Nowhere and the jet boat on time. Jo picked us up in his jet boat, loaded our bikes onboard and we were on our way to the Bridge to Nowhere lodge for the night. Great warm fire blazing for us there! And a bar!

Cycling alongside the Whanganui River is idyllic.
There is lots of interest on the way including of course Jerusalem with its history of Mother Aubert and James K Baxter .Definitely spend some time there.

On day 5 we reached Upokongaro and boarded the paddle steamer which is a great way to arrive In Whanganui .

Everything along the way was interesting, the challenge if it, the history, the accomodation ( including one where you arrive by flying fox) the scenery and of course the great company of 3 friends to experience it with!

You really just have to do it!

Great half day cycling
Apr 2021 • Family
Organised bike hire and transport for our family of five (3 teenagers) the night before for the old coach road trail. Absolutely hassle free. Arrived there to get fitted for bikes and helmets and then we were off. Ride was a lot of fun and had great variety with the impressive viaduct and a old train tunnel. Thoroughly recommend if you have a half day free.

Thanks to Steph, Mike and Jeremy for organising our five day Mountains to the Sea ride. From our first communication via email through to the glass of bubbles at the end of the ride, everything is taken care of - accommodation, transfers, meals, tracking, jet boat and canoe trips, daily briefings, maps, places of interest to check out; nothing is a problem. Accommodation providers were all friendly and helpful. Great weather helps too! Would recommend any of the programmes on offer through Mountain Bike Station.

Mountains to Sea
Apr 2021
Did the full trip from Turoa ski-field to Whanganui covering a fantastic variety of scenery. Covered it in 3 days on a manual MTB following a little training. Track was great so basic skills only were required. The track was mixed from single dirt to tarmac roads. Enjoyed the jet boat a kayak to mix it up a bit. Mountain Bike Station were excellent - logistics, accommodation, food, information and best of all - some champers to celebrate at the end. Even had a dip in the sea. Highly recommend it.

Our group of 11 friends had an awesome experience on our recent trip. Mike, Steph &Jeremy we’re fantastic to deal with, and organised everything from bike hire, accommodation & meals, shuttle to start and from finish, & boat transfers. Support for the trip was amazing, with a daily brief on what to expect according to weather etc and mechanical support if needed. All done with good humour and a friendly smile! Our group rated it up there as one of the best rides we’ve done. Amazing to start on the slopes Mt Ruapehu and cycle through farm land and native bush, and follow the Whanganui River to the Sea. Highlights for me were the Old Coach Road and Mangapurua Tracks and the unique accommodation, particularly the Bridge to Nowhere Lodge & the Flying Fox.
Thanks again to Mike Steph & Jeremy

Mountains to Sea - Impossible to fault
Mar 2021
Our group of 8 riders of mixed experience, completed the Mountains to Sea bike ride in March 2021 and had a fantastic time. The scenery, accommodation, food, service was absolutely top notch. We were blessed with beautiful fine weather and to be fair we did all ride e-bikes which flattened out the hills, but it would be perfectly fine to complete this ride on normal bikes if you have a reasonable level of fitness. The service and communication we received from Mountains to Sea was faultless and I can't recommend them highly enough

Had a wonderful ride along the Mountains to Sea track starting from Turoa car park with stunning views all the way down. We had the amazing services of Mike who did all the hard work for us giving us pre-ride advice and ensuring our bikes had fresh batteries every day. We were booked into wonderful accommodation. The ride totally lived up to our expectations.

5 star organisation of our Mountain to Sea ride
Feb 2021
We did the Mountain to Sea ride in February. The scenery on this varied ride was stunning (I had no idea the central north island was as scenic as it is with beautiful countryside and forests) & we stayed in some really special places, 1 night being only accessible by jetboat & another by cable car. Mike at the Mountain Bike Station took great care of us, organising the whole trip incl. accommodation, transport & transferring our bags daily. He gave us detailed instructions of what to expect on the ride every day, making sure we wouldn't miss anything of interest & even a safety beacon so he knew where we were at all times. Although we were riding unguided we couldn't have been better looked after. Thoroughly recommend both the reliable Mountain Bike Station & the Mountain to Sea ride.
