I recently rode the Mountains to Sea bike route with a couple of friends. We hired Max to take us up to the Turoa ski field for the downhill section on day one, and then again next day to shuttle us and our bikes to the start of the Mangapurua Track. He also organised our jetboat pick-up at the end of the track.
Max was brilliant. He’s knowledgeable, helpful, well organised and an all-round good guy. I can’t recommend him highly enough.
Thanks, Max - a fabulous trip.

We hired E-bikes in Ohakune, rode the Bridge to Nowhere, our first ever mountain biking experience. Max made the whole process easy, everything ran on time, awesome briefings of the ride, provided maps & a personal locator beacon, history of the area. All the planning was taken care of, including pick-up, delivery, jet boat ride & drop off. So easy, you have to do it!!

Great service from Max at Kune Shuttles for the Bridge to Nowhere ride, from pre-booking information as to the level of skill required, through to the final drop off back at base. Max's communication and local knowledge is excellent - he gave us a thorough briefing before we rode off, along with time checks for certain points of the track, very helpful so we knew how long we had to get to the boat and didn't have to rush unnecessarily. He also handed out a GPS tracker and a couple of personal locator beacons in case of emergency.
We were lucky to do the ride after an extensive period of dry weather so the trail rode easier (I personally wouldn't be able to do it if it was harder, which it significantly is after/during rain). Stunning views along the way and information boards explaining the history of the area. The jetboat ride from the landing to Pipiriki is beautiful and worth the money alone. A final lovely touch - Max gave us all an iceblock as we boarded the bus back to Ohakune, very refreshing on a hot day.
Excellent, friendly service and great value for money. Can honestly find no fault.

We decided to take an international friend to Ohakune to ride the Old Coach Road. He normally
Is a road and pathway cyclist but does ride rental E mountain bikes with us when he comes to NZ.
The bike was booked by phone, and payment was made on arrival. The staffer was easy to deal with and relaxed and as we were riding both ways, he indicated flexibility as far as the 4 hours we had hired it for, which was appreciated. Instruction was given as to controls on the bike. Our friend did find the suspension somewgat harsh which after checking it appeared the front fork could have needed a service. Also the bars on this bike were unusually wide for a rental bike which our friend commented on. They were even wider than our personal mountain bikes and more suited to downhilling. Perhaps these could be trimmed for people renting as there is no need for the width on this ride. Otherwise the bike was reliable and we returned after visiting Horopito in under 4 hours. There are two cycle rental firms in Ohakune township which means you have to ride 2.3kms to start the trail by the railway station rather than parking at the station..

Booked two e-bikes to cycle the Old Coach Road. This is a 17.5km trail. Max was awesome to deal with right from the outset. He made sure we were happy with every aspect of the bike before we left the car park. There was plenty of choice of helmet sizes and he made sure they were a good fit for us. We had also booked the shuttle service to the trail starting point at Horopito so the bikes were loaded on to the back of his vehicle and we were off! At the start of the trail he went through in detail what we could see and expect and gave us a map of the route. There isn’t really a chance to go the wrong way! Off we set on three hours of exhilarating riding for us through some stunning bush and spectacular views. We had been advised to bring along water and snacks which were very welcome. The weather was also very kind to us as it was dry and sunny but not too hot. There were a couple of picnic tables along the route as well as plenty of information boards about the particular area we were in so we had plenty of stops along the way.
At the end of our ride when we returned to the store Max was there to hear about our adventures and take the bikes and helmets from us. A fantastic activity which we thoroughly enjoyed. We are not regular bike riders and completed this in just over three hours. Would we recommend this? Absolutely!!

I cycled the Mangapurua track last week and had the pleasure of Max providing the transport to and from the track. His advice about the trail , the added reassurance of personal locator beacons , and his knowledge and passion of the area made the day a memorable one. Would heartily recommend if you are looking for someone to take you and your bike around the region

We have recently completed a one day ride to the Bridge to nowhere. What an awesome bike ride. We booked with Max at Kune Shuttles and he was very helpful. We are novice riders and were pleased when he contacted us the day before the ride to provide an update on the trail conditions and advise it was in great condition. He has good knowledge of the area and transferred us to the drop off and pick up points plus arranged the jet boat transfer which was fabulous.
We were provided a personal location beacon and GPS tracker which is reassuring given the remoteness of the area. Highly recommend as helpful, good communication and well organized. Good value for money.

We rode the Old Coach Road last week using the shuttle and the bikes from Max and his team. It was a faultless experience. We were a mixed party in age, ability, confidence and experience and Max selected perfect bikes for all 11 of us including full suspension e bikes for the older generation which were essential! The briefing, information on the sites along the way, safety and watch outs was brilliant. A super friendly, knowledgeable and professional team who genuinely wanted every member of our party to have the best day out. Would highly recommend.
Thanks guys - we will be back!

Booked this trip with Max and it was excellent.
Max was helpful during the booking process and the process of arranging e bikes and the shuttle and jet boat ride was all seamlessly handled by him.
The ride itself is brilliant although you would want some mountain biking g experience prior to attempting this.
The drop off areas are now all well fenced and sign posted so it felt pretty safe.
Our older teen boy did come off his bike on a fast downhill so be careful on the chalky track when it really dry as it does get pretty slippery.
The jet boat ride back to the pick up area was also stunning.
Overall, a must do do ride if you are in to mountain biking.
Thanks Max for your help, we will recommend you to anyone wanting to do this ride.

Great friendly service. The driver is very knowledgeable about the area. The cost was very reasonable, only $15 to transport a bike to the top of the old coach road bike ride. This is the second time we have used them and we would use them again. Thanks!!!
