This is an interesting square, not as large or nice as some of the other plaza mayores in Spain, but it is still a pleasant square with lots of restaurants and cafés nearby. You probably come across the square on a scroll through town.

Spain has many great plazas to visit and this is right up there. Lots of options for shopping or eating in the area.

It is nestled within the old city and is only small but is nevertheless perfectly formed. Framed on one side by the Church of San Juan Bautista (with its many arches) and the Town Hall on the other, it is the ideal place for eating,...More

You will see bigger and better such squares as you travel round, but it is pleasant enough to stop for a drink or snack here with an adequate choice of cafes and restaurants.

This plaza is a short walk from the church. It’s really rather small compared to the other cities in Spain that I visited. There isn’t a lot to see or do here.

Been to lots of plazas before and this gives off a tired poor feeling. Did stop for a drink at one of two bars open to people watch but not that impressed. So good I didn't even take one photo.

Rest your feet, sit awhile at a local cafe or on a bench. Watch the people come and go. A lovely place to relax or meet up with friends.

Not one of your larger plazas, but pretty. Several vendors are set up for you to shop and sample local food.

We happened to be in Avila the date of the Spain and Portugal match. The plaza had some televisions set up for viewing. A fun, family-friendly way to enjoy a beautiful evening.

Can't say the half empty restaurants set for tourists interested me much. Better and less expensive offerings other places. Some of the older buildings are interesting though
