Took two visits before we got in but the tour was very worthwhile and not that expensive. Gives the history. Most impressive though is the structure itself

The San Pedro church sits back in the square facing the old entrance of the wall. It is beautiful and excellent tour is available with headphones. If you have enough time you should do it.

San Pedro sits at the far end of Avila's main square, known as "El Grande" to the natives. it is a very solid and impressive late Romanesque construction, offering shade and coolness in the Castilian sun.

This ancient church is just in front of the square facing the old wall entrance, hence unlikely to miss. I was impressed with the exterior, grand and beautiful. Unfortunately, it was closed when I was there in the early morning and also when I returned...More

Excellent tour of the church with headphones that was informational and educational. Be aware that these old churches and cathedrals are not heated and can be extremely cold. Dress accordingly with gloves.

Visited this Church during my first day in Ávila and by chance, Mass was starting in 15 minutes so I stayed for Mass also which was really nice. Beautiful interior.

We came to Avila and went to visit this beautiful church but when we came it was closed. I really wanted to see the inside but we ran out of time

Dropped in by chance on way to old town. A very atmospheric old building with beautiful altars and very impressive icons.

We ducked in here for a quick look - no charge- and the priest was saying mass. Very moving atmosphere and a lovely church. Only got to see from the back without interupting

This church was built in the 12th century and is not open to the public Untill 5pm. It does hold local services and mass throughout some weekdays and access is not permitted for tourists. Pleasant enough inside and is worth a look inside.
