Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Being a frequent traveller to Bali, after years of going to Seminyak (now too busy and overcrowded) this year I opted for the quieter area of Canggu.
In Canggu you can still experience the “Old Bali” with lush rice fields, traditional markets and local stores, even though you can feel that the area is developing quickly.
Over the 2 weeks holiday the greatest surprise was Jalan Nelayan and Nelayan Beach. A hidden gem between Berawa and Batu Bolong, Nelayan Beach is calm with few fishermen boats, a small temple and few kite surfers enjoying the wind and the waves.
For lunch we stopped in a lovely caffe just down Jalan Nelayan called Recovery Room. Don’t let the quiet ground floor fool you, head straight on the second floor terrace. Very cozy and beautifully decorated offers lunch, breakfast and a delicious array of refreshing drinks (not to mention their spot on coffee!) all at a great value.
In conclusion if you are looking for a corner of peace make yourself a favour and check out Canggu Nelayan

A great quiet spot to take your towel and a good book. No one to bother you - we enjoyed many great mornings here with the kids. Lovely fishing villas close by.

Nelayan Beach is located five minutes walk between Berawa Beach and Batu Bolong Beach & is basically apart of Canggu.
The beach has black sand is a great spot for relaxing & watching the sunsets.

We hung out a lot at this beach. We really liked the local food & surfing warungs. The guys at Warung Ayu took my son out 4 times surfing and really looked after him in the water. Their beach chairs were comfly and the Bintangs were cold. They were all really helpful and friendly.
We ate a few times at Black and White, which has good food and is great value.
It is best to go for the beach chairs at the surf & restaurant places as the warungs tend to keep the adjacent beach area clean.
At certain times of day it is okay to swim (sort of) in this area without getting knocked over by massive waves.

Place is not that hectic, not that crowded, but still very nice! Prepare payment for parking.. it is mere small money like donation, less than $ 0.5 (so that the local people can keep that area clean, organizing.. etc..)

went there often during sunset, since it was very near to our hotel. Some beach shacks serving snacks, fresh coconuts. Swimming was ok, just once the sea was quite rough and the waves quite big.

Grey and dirty beach with many warungs (eating houses and bars). You even have to pay parking fee for motorcycle there

This beach I like because its got the features of the fishing boats, no parking charges and normally quiet. But beware. Some people have had their bikes broken into and belongings stolen.

Can you walk along the beach down to Finn's or up to Batu Balong? Doesn't looks possible from Google maps as there are some rivers/streams there....
