disappointing

Distant view of snow-capped mountains was impressive, but the "beach" (at least at low tide) was all clay/mud. Interesting spot for a quick stop, but don't over-expect. At least it's free.

Watch the Tides

Nice expanse of beach to explore during low tide. You can also see another glacier if you hike out during low tide and look back up the river! Just make sure you are heading back before the tide traps you out there! Muck boots recommended.

Eagle BEEach
Jun 2020
It may come as no suprise to some of you that my wife, Sandre is now sentsitve to bee stings! we found out because went here and there are lots. SO LOOK OUT!! We do not know if its just because of the speical alaska bee stings or the normal bee stings but she said she feels like a hot hot needle in her leg! So we did not stay for long but there are no eagles that we saw either so dont come here for the eagles if thats what your looking for its just bees!Pretty pruple flowers but maybe that's why there are bees here. Muddy and rocky and someone was shooting a gun at the water a lot!(pictured) so look out for shooters here! Scared Sandre a little. Called the police but there is no service here, might come back but if there are no eagles then maybe not. Some parks we go to has a livecam so maybe a livecam would tell us if there are eagles there or if there are no shooterrs in the area and then we might go! Just an idea thanks!!

Beauiful at Sunset, saw eagles
Aug 2019
We drove to this beautiful beach while staying in Juneau. We timed to be there a little before sunset. Enjoyed walking along the beach and it is great place for picnic. We saw lots of eagles and that was great but the sunset was amazing.

No eagles
Jul 2019
We were the only people here and there were no eagles. It was pouring rain. I wonder if it would have been better on a sunny day?

Awesome scenery but no eagles. Beautiful drive from Juneau. Rented car in Juneau and drove out of town for an hour.

Not a bad way to spend 30 minutes in Juneau
Aug 2019
We drove from the pier (about 30 minutes) on a self -guided tour. Once you arrive, you park near some picnic tables and walk out about 100-150 yards. Turn around, and you can see the Eagle glacier which we were told is not visible from anywhere else unless you take a helicopter excursion. Nice views - great photo ops. But after 30 minutes, you walk back to the car and drive on. BTW, we only saw one eagle at this location. We saw way more perched on highway light poles on the roadway on the drive back to the pier.

Few eagles in past few years
Aug 2019
We rented a car in Juneau so we could go to Eagle Beach at low tide to see the 100s of eagles I'd read about. We saw only two. In speaking with a park ranger we learned that it's been a few years since large numbers of eagles were seen here. There seem to be fewer salmon in the area which is believed to have decreased the eagle numbers.

Amazing Views!
Jul 2019
We stopped at Eagle Beach on our Jeep tour! The beach area is very large with picnic tables. The views are beautiful and it was very quiet and peaceful on a Monday!
