Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great little walk. Easy to find. Pathway was a bit rocky and slippery as we had recent rains, however still manageable. View at the top was nice. Would be beautiful on a sunny day.

Drove up to have a look around and enjoyed the view, worth your time to visit. Don't just drive around the main road, do a couple back roads like this one and find a hidden view.

Track leads up the mountain from the hospital - 20 minutes. Slighlty overgrown and slippery so take proper footwear/ trail shoes. Good views over town and mountains

A guide book said children and seniors could do this walk in 15 minutes to see spectacular view. Its a steep climb that takes more like 40 minutes and because it rains a lot in Winter it is very slippery. The views at the top in our mind were not worth the time and exertion. Slipped over coming down, found ourselves having to walk in the bush on side because path was so slippery. At the hospital a ground worker hooked up a water hose to hose the crap of me.

We walked up along the roads 30-40 minutes in the shade of the coconut trees from the dock and were passed by only one vehicle. The view is great.

Back in town we bought a smoothie and in our change was a Cook Island $2 coin. Even if you don't buy anything, ask someone to swap NZ$2 of your money for their $2 coin. You will be amazed and have a talking point for life. Or, of course, spoiler alert, Google it.

An excellent vantage point to view island. Cook Islands tourism should do more to promote a dedicated pull up zone and view area.

I found it merely incidentally (taking the wrong turning) but stay there a minute to enjoy the moment. This island is real, the blue water, the palm trees, the little houses. Try to memorize the view for long cold winter days at home ...

Nice view but be aware the walk up takes about 10 or so minutes, but it was hard on not so fit people. If only the view was of the other side of the island, there is no high point over the picture perfect side.

If you have hired a scooter / moped / car, this is a nice view to take in.

Heading west from Avarua, not far along from the end of the airport's runway you'll need to proceed onto the "upper" road, and then turn right as if you're headed South. A fairly small sign will indicate "Hospital" and that's the fairly steep road that you'd need to take - headed up towards the hospital at the top.
No doubt, a pretty good place to locate a hospital - well clear of any tsunami danger.
The view itself is from along the road as you proceed up that hill, but might more easily be seen, when you've turned around at the hospital atop the hill, and slowly proceed back down the hill - then all of a sudden, the VISTA opens up to you, looking out North-East in the airport direction and over the golf course.

There are of course many other lovely scenic sights to take in, but more would be on foot when hiking at height, or occasionally from a few slightly elevated points on the "upper, inland" road.
So, if you're mobile, and have the time - do take in this view-point.

As an aside, whilst going along this section of upper road, the Prison isn't too much further along. It's well-worth popping into their front office where they have on display, and for sale, ukeleles skilfully carved from palm wood, as well as beautifully printed tablecloths - all done by inmates. Am uncertain whether there are particular hours when these are available for the public to view/purchase, but the craftmanship is superb!
