Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

By any standard, O'otu Beach is impressive with its white sand and clear water but if you have already been on, or are planning to be on, an Aitutaki Lagoon cruise or private charter, you can give this beach a miss as it is equaled or surpassed by the beaches surrounding the islands in the lagoon in terms of both beauty and swimming experience. There are no snorkeling opportunities at O'otu given it is all white sand and no coral or rock. The Blue Lagoon restaurant there allows a comfortable view of the beach and water area while consuming a coffee/drink or a meal (see separate review).

Kia Orana! During my stay at Inano Beach Bungalows,i would walk to nearby Ootu Beach to swim and also hang out with the warm and welcoming locals. It's a beautiful beach and i enjoyed spending time there. If you enjoy exploring and swimming in beautiful beaches, you should visit this beach when u visit Aitutaki and i'm sure you will be pleased. Meitaki

Great little spot. Clear water, just need to be careful of some tour boats that come in. A sandbar is also pretty close to just relax on. Some on the hotels also have a shipping container there that you can access to use their kayaks, snorkels etc so you dont have to bring them from the hotel

Rode our bikes from Etu Moana (on the west side) all the way around to Ootu Beach. Very pretty white sand and many places where you can walk out quite a ways into the lagoon with the water only to your knees. Also a great place to kayak.

We loved to paddle board and kayak at O'otu Beach. The water is deep in spots and good for beginners so you don't fall into the coral! Start from here and practice in the channel running alongside the beach and then try your hand at some of the motu beyond the private island resort (Aitutaki Lagoon Resort). The third one out is uninhabited so bring a picnic (maybe on a kayak) and have some fun being "stranded."

Ootu beach is the best beach on Aitu for swimming and playing in the water. The water is clear and and there is a sandbar you can sit or walk around on. You can rent paddle boards from Ranginui's Retreat which is just as you come around the corner on the left hand side. I think they also have kayaks (we didn't rent them). The Autitaki Resort and Spa is at Ootu beach and it has a white sand peninsula sticking out into the lagoon. You can get to it by paddle boards or a little swim, or just walk to it via the sand bar in front of Autiutaki Village. The beach is actually NOT part of the resort and is a public beach. They may try and tell you that it is but just smile and let them know the locals have told you otherwise :)

While the whole island has some amazing beaches and lovely spots, I personally found this beach the best simply because the water color here was so blue and bright it just looked amazing and different from other parts of Aitutaki.

This beach is a beautiful little spot on the lagoon. At different tides and times of the day it changes colours - my favourite is the green/blue of the postcards! There is a bit of sand on this beach with not too much coral like most of the other beaches. The lagoon is safe to swim in and is like a big bath. Enjoy
