- Tim D7 contributionsA must do when in Cook IslandsIt truly is an idyllic setting with it's amazing colours that looking better than an pool colour we've ever seen. The people are amazing. They are genuinely happy and show it throughout the day. We began meeting our tour guide Ally, who is a Aikutaki treasure, stopping along the tour route to give shoutouts to local residents. The boat trip throughout the 15 islands with numerous stoos along the way for swimming, snorkeling and a BBQ lunch onboard. The crew, guide and captain performed and entertained us playing ukelele, drums and singing along the trip. This is truly the best day we had in the Cook Island's, a must do.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 February 2024
- lynMosman, Australia5 contributionsThe Highlight of our Cook Islands holiday. We went on The Kia Orana island cruise with Captain Fantastic, otherwise known as Andrew!! What a wonderful Day out he gave us! Not only the tour and history of 7 islands but also a beautifully prepared barbecue! Andrew had a great sense of humour and catered to all our needs ( one of our group asked to go into shallower waters to snorkel and he happily obliged!) I am happy to recommend this tour to anyone travelling to the Cook Islands. I promise u will not be disappointed! Thank you so much Andrew , your tour was the highlight of our holiday, regards Lyn and Ellis. IntoVisited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 September 2024

Stayed at Pacific Resort which was magnificent. Thoroughly recommend tours especially around Ootu Beach, Honeymoon and One Foot IslandsVisited November 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 December 2024
- Glenn DuncanCooroy, Australia8 contributionsThe Best Accomodation on the island for couples or secluded luxury.Wonderful couples retreat situated on my favourite part of the lagoon . Well appointed Bungalows with a friendly island feel . We spent 5 nights here as I wanted my wife to share the reasons I’ve been fishing at this tropical paradise for over 10 years . Friendly staff , beautiful food and the easiest access to the lagoon. The Adults only island gives a real feeling of privacy and seclusion and you only really notice the other guests at meal times . Paddleboards , and all watercraft are provided per bungalow as well as 2 bicycles to travel around . Access to the island is by barge , which keeps the daytimes to a minimum but also allows an easy trip to other food places if you want to venture away . The overwater bungalow are the hero of the accomodation but all the villas are equally stunning. Our favorite are the beach villas with the pools .Visited January 2025Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 January 2025

One goes to Aitutaki to enjoy the famous lagoon. This is a triangular lagoon surrounded by thin strip of land which also have a few hills. Although it is a lagoon, tides do make a difference as to the sea level and the beaches and the atoll. Must do a cruise on the lagoon.

Great views lovely food mc knowledgeable.Started our trip with. Short flight to Aitutaki from Rarotonga the fare all inclusive with the cruise. That cost $600 had done the same trip 5 years ago at $500 and it’s definitely worth it. Had a tour around the island interesting to hear no dogs on the island compared to Raro where there a heaps of dogs stopped at Kori Cafe for refreshments and bought a few Pareous stunning colours then on to the Vaea the water unbelievable colours of blue stopped to snorkel with the fish so pretty and big silver fish stared with G on to the moth to swim then another to swim and had a beautiful lunch on board fruits fish salads bread. Passports are stamped for one foot island heaps of photos taken the crew sing while we are aboard the Vaka then back to the Airport to fly back to Raro a great trip had by all.

We transferred here from another resort for two days. The boat ride ran regularly across the lagoon was less than two minutes.
The resort is a outdated and not exactly the impression the pictures give. We would certainly not say it was 5 stars but more like 3+ to 4 stars. The location however was amazing!
The bike gears didn’t work, gym location dark and equipment poor.
The rooms were nice and tidy and the hammock under the palm was what one would dream of.
You could walk straight into the lagoon from your room.
The outdoor shower was our first experience, and with the warm weather it was terrific to have a shower under the palm trees under the stars at night.
The restaurant had apparently burnt down so the casual restaurant was not ideal. However we wer able to sit on the beach, right by the restaurant, enjoying cocktails watching the full moon. Unbeatable!

I went to the Aitutaki Lagoon twice through the Aitutaki Day Tour from Air Rarotonga which meant I was on the Vaka Cruise. Everything about Aitutaki is beautiful especially the lagoon.
The ocean surrounding Aitutaki is such a bright hot neon turquoise that it has to be seen up front and in person to be believed! It’s astoundingly gorgeous. I loved snorkelling in the lagoon when I was on the the Vaka Cruise on September 28, 2022 and on October 1, 2022.
I really miss being in that ultra clear ocean water and I highly recommend that lagoon for everyone!

White Pearl Charters and Leo our skipper, was our choice for the best snorkeling experience in the fabulous Aitutaki Lagoon.
Leo took us to various Diving spots, we saw Turtles, Bone Fish, Giant Clams and small ones, and swam with and fed the giant Trevally's & Wrasse.
Leo has a wealth of knowledge of fishing and Aitutaki.
Mere your lunch of very much appreciated, best sandwiches, fruit & Cake.
We will be back again soon.

I spent a week on Aitutaki and I was just blown away. I got a bit unlucky with the weather mid-May as it was mostly raining. However, once the sun comes out, this place is something different! The beauty, the water blue and clear, the sunrises and sunsets, amazing. It's a small place where everyone knows each other and is very friendly and helpful! It's just a bit expensive out there but for the rest, amazing!!!!

The entire experience was fantastic! Transfers, flights, guide, Vaka crew and tour - just amazing!! We travelled with 4 adults and 3 teenagers on Boxing Day. We were greeted at the airport by “uncle Paul”, a fabulous host who looked after 24 of us that day. His knowledge of Rarotonga and all the Islands history was exceptional (and he was hilarious)! The Vaka crew were wonderful, thank you for your hospitality whilst aboard your vessel, the food and entertainment was great! We stopped at 3 x Motu’s, snorkelled and explored everything in the waters and the island of Aitutaki. Don’t forget to get your passport stamped at One Foot Island!! Thank you Paul and all the crew, this was a family holiday we will never forget. Worth every cent and we are so grateful we decided to do it. Highly recommend, there is not one person we haven’t shared our experience with yet! We will definitely do it again!

This is by far the most beautifulest place in the world, a stunning lagoon, friendly people, fantastic food, awesome activities, but also a great place to unwind and relax. I can't say enough about Aitutaki if you get the chance it should be on your bucket list. Love it Love it.

This lagoon is the most beautiful place I have ever visited on this planet. It's been a long time since I visited, about 25 years, but swimming in this lagoon was like a dream. It was like swimming in an aquarium only BETTER! If you love the water, fish and being one with the ocean, this is the place. But be gentle with it so it stays that way.

I did the day trip with my daughter, flew up in the morning, was met by the bus, and was given a tour of the main island before embarking on the Vaka Cruise. A highly recommended experience led by the Captain, Winston and his crew, providing cultural talks, scrumptious food, and musical.entertainment between islands, as well as top shelf Snorkelling locations in the bluest Lagoon I have ever seen. As an added bonus, we got our passports stamped as a keepsake and reminder of such a memorable day.

Hi everyone, I'm looking for family friendly accommodation on Aitutaki with two bedrooms so the kids can sleep in the middle of the day. Two adults and two kids under 2yrs of age. I would prefer to avoid self-catered. Any suggestions?

Is Trip Advisor a safe place to book to go to the Cooks Island? Heard some horror stories with online booking sites. Looking for the huts that are in the water to stay. Any recommendations?
Written 6 June 2019
i did not book this trip to the Cook Islands through trip advisor.
my wife dealt with Flight Centre because it was a very last minute booking.
when we've used Trip Advisor we have not had any problems.

Absolutely! The Aitutaki Lagoon is THE PLACE to go if you stay at Aitutaki. Excellent access to the lagoon, beautiful resort and plenty of fish to watch while snorkeling.

Is there horseback riding on the beach anywhere on Aitutaki? Also, my kids want to know if there are any Huntsman spiders on the island.
Thank you
Written 5 December 2018
No horseback riding on the beaches. They’re too delicate and fragile. (I haven’t seen any horse on the island at all!)
Written 5 December 2018
I think you have to fly via Los Angeles and then with Air New Zealand to Rarotonga and Aitutaki.
I do not know how much the flight will be, but for the Hotels you have to plan USD 400 - 800 per nigh.
