Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great kiting. Mike Lee was terrific! Pick up at our hotel, water taxi to Honey Moon Island, rental gear and safety boat (just in case)! He provides instruction as well! Beautiful flat shallow water near the island with deeper water just a little further out.

We could not have had a better experience!!

After an amazing week last year we came back for another week of kiteboarding with Mike Lee and Bo and Rick at Kiteboarding Aitutaki. Superb and relaxed customer service from Mike, meet every morning at 9 at the wharf, ice coffees then off to the island. Great little kite camp on the island, then 360degree choice of kiting dependant on wind direction. Knee deep lagoon on the lee of a sand bar for a smooth ride in the south east trade wind direction. Wing foiling on the windward side then a few exquisite diving options if the wind drops for a day. Definitely coming back every year! Chris and Lyn Jansen

My first go at kiteboarding and Bo was a great instructor- I even managed to get up on a board (for a second or two!). Honeymoon Island has to be one of the prettiest places in the world and perfect for kiteboarding - beginners or experts. Warm crystal clear water and shallow. No wonder this place is considered one of the best kite boarding locations in the world.

I spent 2 weeks in July 2023 kiting with Mike, Boo and Rick, the team at Aitutaki Kiteboarding. What a great team! They provided high quality wing foiling and kiting instruction with an emphasis on safety. They also provided daily transport to and from the island off Aitutaki, snorkelling expeditions, and humour. I will definitely go back next season to spend another 2 weeks of fun with them. Kathy H

We’ve just returned from a fabulous trip to Aitutaki and kited with Mike Lee at South Pacific kiteboarding out at Honeymoon Island every day. The island is stunning, and the water really is that gorgeous aqua colour! We had 7 days solid wind for kiting in the beautiful lagoon and deeper water around the island. It’s a perfect spot for beginners and experienced riders alike. Awesome for foiling too. Everything is easy, wind was great, water was warm, other kiters were great fun to hang out and kite and chat with. The instructors were impressive, I saw at least 3 newbies up and riding in the time we were there. I’d highly recommend a trip with Mike, Boo and Rick. We’ll definitely be back there next year!

We travelled to Aitutaki for kitesurfing and diving as a family with two teenagers for the first time. We heard about the kitesurfing here and were certainly not disappointed! The most commonly used kite spot is at Honeymoon Island and is simply stunning. People actually come here for honeymoon excursions, we just wanted to kitesurf.

The island is about a 15 minute boat ride across the lagoon from the main island and Mike will take you there for a reasonable fee on every day that the wind is on for kiting. He's great to deal with, there on time and will suggest other cool things to do if the wind might drop. We went to different amazing snorkeling spots with him.

There are some other transport providers around but they limit their service to dropping people of and picking them up later in the day. Not so Mike! He stays on the island with his kitesurfers and will operate an rescue boat if someone is in trouble and drifting towards the outer reef.

We can highly recommend to spend your time with Mike whenever you come to Aitutaki for kitesurfing!

Aitutaki was the perfect place to start kitesurfing. I was very happy to meet Mike, he took us to honeymoon every day when the wind was on. He gave me very helpful advise and the big board was very helpful.
Thanks, looking forward to see you again 👍

If your keen to kite, Aitutaki is the place and Mike Lee is the man.
I have been trying this sport off and on for years, being 69y.o. and being on my bucket list I took to plunge and went to Aitutaki and Mike Lee. After Mikes tips and advice I am finally up and kiting. Mike is very humble and patient when one is learning, the place is exceptional and his equipment is new thus reliable.
If the wind is not good for kiting he will take you snorkelling or to other islands etc. He took us to swim/snorkel with huge GT’s a great experience, having big fish swim close to you is an awesome experience.
I don’t normally write reviews although this being so good I had to recommend my experience to others.

Best kiteboard company I’ve ever been with, Mike Lee (owner) was always on time, equipment was state of the art, easy boat shuttle over to paradise. Kiteboardin all day at your own leisure. Mike provides great advice and is immense with riders at all levels, progressing people amazingly. You can even bring your partner or friends on the islands to enjoy snorkelling etc while you kiteboard.

I had an such an incredible few days with Mike at Honeymoon Island. I’ve kited all over the world and this was potentially the most stunning spot I’ve been to. There’s a few flat water shallow areas, then you can go out exploring in the lagoon. I saw so many turtles whilst kiting! Mike was very accommodating, catering to everyone’s various needs, good fun and reliable. I would highly recommend heading out to Honeymoon Island with Mike and really hope I get to come back at some point!
