We were not quite sure weather we needed a guide just for shopping as we had no particular requirements and expressed our concern when we met MJ. However her experience and contacts we ( a family of four ) had a marvellous time both with shopping and eating also recommendations for the next few days. A great way to start... More

I contacted Shopping Tours Shanghai-Day Tour, after reading so many wonderful reviews. Shanghai was my 4th city to visit during my Asian trip. Since I had booked this tour, I was so glad that I waited to shop in Shanghai. I had MJ to myself for 2 great days. As MJ knew all the wonderful vendors, it saved a lot... More

This is the second time I've done the one day tour (over two visits) - and it's worth every cent...... great way to see the city, and on the whole-day tour eat at a wonderful local restaurant for lunch, hear about local customs, have any questions answered and participate in some wonderful local shopping that you'd never be able to... Millica was our guide for intense over 4 hours of Shanghai shopping. She gave each of us a red shopping bag, which resulted in the best prices from the various vendors, and no need to haggle. Very stress free. We met her at the South Bund Fabric Market where she took us to several vendor, great bargains (custom tailored-made shirt... More

So, initially, I was hesitant to book a “shopping” tour; after all, I’ve been successfully shopping for over 50 years; just ask my husband!! But, with limited time in Shanghai, and looking at all the glowing reviews, we, 2 couples, booked with Shopping Tours Shanghai. It was the best decision we made on our 3 week tour of China, Tai... Our guide for the one day tour was MJ, with Caroline along "in training". We were fortunate that it was only our group of three, as we definitely had great service from MJ. Having a driver made it very easy. There was no having to dash between the traffic, the car magically appeared in front of us when we were... More

I, like everyone else, had a wonderful experience working with MJ. I'm a bit of a budget traveler, and really deliberated about whether I could afford the cost of a custom tour with MJ. If you are like me, I must tell you that she saved me more money than she cost. She can take you to the best vendors,... More

I booked a private tour with MJ as my Boss and I were only in town for a few days and I needed to "get some decent clothes" for my new job. We had an extra day in shanghai and I wanted to focus our time. After some email interactions with MJ, they were able to support our sunday morning... More

I am in my fifties, travelling solo and hadn't been to Shanghai before. MJ provided me with a solid base for the rest of my Shanghai stay with excellent pre and post tour follow-up. She is the whole package from her advice regarding fabric, the skill of the tailors she recommended, the price negotiation on my behalf, the history snippets... More

This is the third time my husband and I have taken a tour with the ladies from Shopping Tours Shanghai. Hands down this is the best money I've spent coming to Shanghai. Shopping in the markets can be intimidating but the guides with STS take the stress out of all the options and bargaining. This time around we did the... More

Staying in Jing'an

Neighbourhood Profile
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
