This is one of the smaller Wats, but is still worth a visit if you find yourself with some extra time while in Ayutthaya.

Wat Phu Khao Thong is by far our favourite temple in Thailand. It’s so beautiful, and best part: there was almost nobody. It was was so peaceful. We went there by bicycle, it’s a bit further than most temples but so worth it.

I must say this is one of the best-kept temple(pagodas) here in Ayutthaya. About 90 steps to climb to reach the top, the view from the top is spectacular. There are some more ruins nearby to give a contrast to the architecture. Since its renovated,...More

Some Wats in the historical ruins may look alike but do visit this famous stupa called Golden Mount. It's a tall (watch out for the fragile ruined steps!) structure built on vast planes and interesting to go up there...

A little out of the way. Looks great from afar, but you can't climb up the chedi as of Dec 2017. Not sure if this is permanent or temporary. It also seems to have been restored recently (it looks much, much whiter than it does...More

It's a bit out of the way compared to other Ayutthaya sites, which is also good as there are usually minimal tourist around. It was part of our Ayutthaya tour stop, and when we were there, there were no other groups around. It is currently...More

All wats may have active monks at any time. Pants or very long shorts that cover the knees, and shirts and tops that cover the shoulders and midriff are appropriately respectful of the culture and local practices.
