After Wli

Was recommended to call in after doing Wli Waterfalls. Well worth doing, soon as you walk into forest with the bananas they came over. We took motor bike ride to the next tro tro station which was an experience.

Must see! Great fun
Mar 2019 • Friends
I had hoped to see some animals at Kakum National Forest while walking on the canopy walk but we saw none (only a butterfly). So we decided to stop and see live monkeys. It was a very and very entertaining decision. I will look forward to returning and showing new people that travel with me as well. If you want to see “LIVE ANIMALS” Kakum is not the place, but the Monkey Forest and the live crocodiles at Hans Cottage Botel (both on the road to Kakum from Cape Coast) are great opportunities to see them.

A guy and his monkeys
Apr 2018 • Friends
We stopped by for like 5 minutes. Seeing as it was a small monkey sanctuary we were hoping for a more one on one with the monkeys to touch and play with but its not allowed said the owner. The monkeys may scratch or run off and get hunted so we left.

There isn't much to the place and it could use some work but I get the vibe its a man who loves monkeys and is trying to'help save them' so 3stars for effort but it needs help, he needs help.

Monkey sanctuary near Kakum National Park
Feb 2018 • Solo
Monkey sanctuary situated on the road to Kakum, run by a Dutchman and his Ghanaian assistant! Both very friendly and happy to spend around 45 minutes showing me around the sanctuary and the animals they have there, which include monkeys, tortoises, a couple of alligators. We fed the monkeys some peanuts which they plucked from our hands.
The monkeys are in cages, most individually, but I was told this is because some were housed together and ended up fighting. They also can't be left to roam around loose because the locals hunt them for bushmeat. The croc and tortoise enclosures could be improved with some funding.
I really enjoyed my visit and it felt more authentic, less pricey and less touristy than Kakum. The hosts were kind and eager to share their experiences with me and stories about the monkeys! The monkeys all have their own little personalities which is apparent. Would recommend and hope to visit when I'm next in Ghana.

Disappointing place.
Aug 2017
These place must be closed right now. Animals are in reduce jails. They can not do nothing inside.
You can see everything in 3 minutes.
We try to explain to the owner, at the end of the 3 minutes walk, and he got angry.
Bad people, worse place. Do not waste your time and your money here.
The only people who can visit this place are someone who can help these animals.

The staff try but the animals do not look happy
Jul 2017 • Couples
This place has a feel that people are trying but not quite sure how to maintain the cages and look after the animals. If this place was better maintained then I think it would be a much better place to visit.

It is up to you if you want to go. If more people go then hopefully more money will be spent on the animals however currently the animals are healthy but their cages are not the best
