Incredibly beautiful trail ride through pineapple plantation and interior valley trails. We did a 2 hour trail ride at 3pm , ending right before dusk. The horses are impeccably taken care of and loved by the family that runs the ranch. Our guide Hetiare did a great job customizing the riding for various levels . There were a few opportunities to gallop for the advanced riders. The horses were very well trained and it was so obvious how much love the family invests in their business and the animals. Not to be missed in Moorea if you love horses or even if you’ve never tried before.

What a great horseback ride. I contacted the ranch in advance to inquire about pricing and had our hotel call to confirm availability. We paid the owner directly in cash. The owner transported my husband and I to and from our hotel and the ranch. Once there we got ready for the ride. My husband had never been on a horse before and the trip leader was very patient and taught him how to direct the horse. The trip ended up being only myself and my husband along with the trip leader and a younger child (possibly the owners grandson). The scenery was absolutely gorgeous. The trip was two hours long which was just enough for us (I forgot how much work it was to horseback ride). Highly recommend this trip!

My 8 year old daughter and I went on a 2-hour horse trek through the forest and pineapple plantations. Our guide Miriam kindly picked us up at our hotel and brought us to the ranch. She spoke some English but we mostly conversed in French. My daughter and I both have riding experience and found the horses to be mellow and easy to handle. We walked along picturesque trails and Miriam pointed out different kinds of fruit trees along the way. A lovely ride with beautiful views!

In response to the reviewer who wrote about horses being tied up in the valley -- my daughter asked our guide about this, as we saw horses tied up as well. The land in the valley is government-owned (my impression was that it's sort of like our state parks in the US). Farmers are allowed to plant there, and horse owners can bring their horses there to graze. Where there are no fences, the horses are tied up in an area to graze. My assumption is that the owners let them graze for the day and then they move them or retrieve them. We didn't see many horses tied up, but the ones we did see looked well-fed and cared for.

My wife and I did a horse trek with the ranch. It was full of beautiful scenery, beautiful horses and very relaxing.

The walk goes past pineapple plantations and through the valley with mountainous surrounds, it weaves in and out of forest with constantly changing views.

The horses are really well looked after, healthy and friendly. My horse did get a bit spooked by some construction vehicles, but I assume that is pretty rare on their usual walks. They have a variety of playful and fun horses or calm and easy going horses go suit personalities.

The owner was very friendly, spoke French and English well, slight accent but strong enough speech to lead the walk.

I'd say if you're a complete beginner with horses this probably isn't quite perfect for you due to the lack of direct instruction. But If you've ridden before, you'll love it

I had booked this trip direct with the hotel before reading the tripadvisor reviews and tbh I was a little worried about the condition of the horses we’d see upon arrival especially as I was taking my dad who had ridden horses all his life as a mounted policeman. We were picked up direct from our hotel and driven to the ranch and as it turns out there was no need to worry they seemed in excellent condition as my dad could testify. My eldest was very nervous when he first got on the horse probably not helped by the fact the guide spoke very limited English and therefore we had very little instruction we were just plonked in a horse one by one until everybody was ready to go. This is what made my eldest nervous as in this time the horse was just wandering about doing its own thing but once everyone was ready they followed the lead horse single file for the entirety of the tour.

And what a tour it was, the scenery was spectacular and with the horses plodding along at a very slow pace there was time to take it all in and grab some photos. We trekked through the pineapple plantations with mountains rising up all around us and then into the forest and through several streams. The tour was supposed to be 2 hours but we were actually out there for 2 1/2 hours and enjoyed every second of it. My eldest who had started off afraid had now mastered the art of getting his horse into a trot to catch up with the horse in front.

A good fun day but be warned go early! We went for the 8am start and by the end it was getting very hot and sticky.

I am not the type of person to post a negative review, but this tour was extremely dangerous and I would not recommend it to ANYONE.

First of all, the horses do not look to be in good health. I felt so bad for them. Secondly, you need to be an experienced rider to do this tour. They do not teach you how to ride or even show you how to hold the reins. The path you go on is not easy. The poor horses were tripping and stumbling as we went up muddy hills, through rocky uneven terrain, and small rivers. My husband (a beginner rider) was put on a horse and the guide told him "This is my horse. He only listens to me and hates other people". Once my husband got on this horse it tried to buck him off, but they would not change his horse. My husband's horse was dragged through the entire 2-hour trip. It clearly did not want to be there and was treated very poorly when it would not follow directions. My horse looked miserable the entire trip. It tried to buck me off quite a few times (I have ridden horses many times before). It ran me off the path at one point and I cut my leg in a few spots. I tried to communicate with the guides to tell them I was hurt, but they didn't seem to care and just kept telling me how much longer was left on the tour. By the end of the tour, I was terrified of being on my horse. We went up a steep hill and my horse freaked out and I almost fell off on the hill. The guides seemed to brush off everything that was happening...horses running many guests off the paths, people falling off, etc. I did not feel safe.

Another guest from our hotel was thrown off her horse. We were told that she had to go to the hospital the following day to get an Xray.

I am writing this review because 1) I feel terrible for the horses and 2) It was not safe. Think twice before booking this tour.

Upon arrival I immediately noticed that the two horses our guide had ready for my husband and I were under weight. You could visibly see their ribs, withers (shoulders), and hindquarters (hips). I almost didn't go through with the ride and looking back I really should not have. For those of you who don't know, if you can see a horses bones, they are too thin. On top of the horses being too skinny, my horse also had areas of hair missing. Now I don't know much about horse skin health and what could cause this but it certainly concerned me.

Not only were the horses we were riding too thin, but we also passed several horses that were tied up to trees that were also visibly too thin. There was also no water left out for these horses. Our guide spoke no English. He kicked his horse in order to get his horse to move out of his stall. This really upset me. He also appeared to be the only person on the property with what I saw to be over 10 horses.

If you choose to ride with this company, please be aware of the conditions of the horses and the care they are receiving. I am really concerned that they are not being cared for properly and hopefully if someone else notices it maybe something can be done to help them.

We really enjoyed our 2 hrs ride. I'd suggest to go at 8.00 in the morning as it gets quite hot. Amazing scenery, pineapple fields, green valleys, truly spectacular. Our 6 yrs old child got his own pony which the owner guided throughout the excursion. Our horses were well behaved and we enjoyed every moment. Equipment a bit tired and the horses could do with some more love. We would have liked more information on the valley/plants/nature etc but our guide was not a chatty type. Nevertheless, I truly recpmmend this tour.

Agree with all the reviews about the view. We are beginners. We got two old horses that would rather stop and eat than ride. My saddle was patched with duct tape. Granted we don't really know what we are doing but the riding part was not too enjoyable. Our guide spoke almost no English. Based on what we have heard and read, great place if you have some experience. You can hike the same area for free if you choose not to ride.
